  1. since its football season lets go with football teams. Post your reason why, I know some may have the "because my dad or family was" but some of you may have fav teams that are not even where you are from, and I want to know why?

College: Iowa Hawkeyes, I started to get to go to at least one home game a year when I was 6. Both my Dads brother and sister went there, and Dad had season tickets since i was born. Iowa State Cyclones was a curse word at our house.

Pro:Green Bay Packers I really wasn't sure who I wanted to like right away, I remember at 8 and 9 years old watching the Packers but didn't want to just because my dad did, I thought the Raiders had cool uniforms and Bo Jackson was awesome.

Then the Packers traded for Brett Favre, I bought some of his rookie cards, the next year he came in for the Majik man and threw the TD to win and it was the coolest shit ever. Packer backer ever since I was 10 .
  2. niners, warriors, giants, sharks.

people should only root for their local teams, with a few exceptions (moved a lot, dad's fave team was x, etc)
  3. New Mexico State Aggies
I am a proud alumnus. I'm hoping our 48-year bowl drought ends this year...as I do every year...and am disappointed every year.

    Detroit Lions
Mostly because I'm an idiot. There is more to the story, but nothing would justify the suffering and misery they have subjected me to over the years.
  4. College : Illinois, I have always been an die hard Illini fan

Pro : Obv, DA BEARS DA BEARS DA BEARS

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPP3aTB6nLo

Any Oters go to alot of the BEARS games? I am usually out there 4 or 5 times a year tailgating and seating in Cadillac club courtesy of the boss, sfsweet :)- First game I will attend this year is the Sunday Night game against PHILLY, any Philly guys coming out for that?

  5. College: I-L-L..................I-N-I

Always been a huge Illinois fan...grew up an hour and a half away from Champaign and got every Fighting Illini game growing up.

    Pro: Rams...yuck

They will be gone in like 2 years, so who really cares. They suck ass, and fans don't even care anymore.

Was a St. Louis Cardinals (football) fan before they moved. Looks like the same is happening now.

Greatest Show on Turf was ALLSOME, though.
  6. Pro
Dallas Cowboys. Grew up on them... Dad is also a fan.

    College
NMSU Aggies. I also like USC (spent ten years in L.A. and they are the only good football in town)
  7. Green Bay Packers.... cause im from WI?
  8. College: Auburn, alumni

NFL: none really, I don't like the NFL, I guess anyone the Jets are playing would be my favorite team of the week, since jetman4109 is a huge fan and he fails at life.
  9. ECU and Indy
  10. College:

    #1 - Tennessee, I am an alum

#2 - Iowa State, my parents went there, 4 of my aunts/uncles went there, my brother and his wife went there, my grandpa taught there and still lives in Ames

    NFL

Dallas - I hopped on the bandwagon during the 90s and haven't gotten off
  11. NC State: because I am masochistic. And I've been going to their games since I was 7.

Green Bay: My pops was born and raised in WI, and did not give me a choice. LOL I had to endure pple making fun of them b/c they sucked and then when they won the SB I was called a bandwagon jumper
  12. College: Virginia Tech Hokies - I bleed Orange and Maroon and sometimes even shit it.

Pro: Carolina Panthers - Carolina born and Carolina bred
  13. Arizona State: Pac-10 powerhouse team

Arizona Cardinals: On pace to win the NFC West and go 16-0!
  14. MLB World Champion Chicago White Sox

why when i was 8 years old my step dad took me to my first whitesox game with my uncle and cousin all who are cubs fans. At the time i guess i thought the cubs were gay to this day i still feel the same way.

    NFL St. Louis Rams

reason? Im not really into football I dont care for the bears or the colts and i liked Kurt Warner when he first started so ima stick with the rams

    College Football Miami

reason one of my best friends is a florida state fan so i picked them because it was more fun talking shit when they used to beat florida state other than us both being mad when florida lost

    College BBall IU

No real reason other than I Hate everything about Purdue. It pretty cool to be in Bloomington during game time once again i dont really follow too closly but i ejoys teh IU basketballs

    NBA

    The Denver Nuggets

Im an AI fan other than that i could not care less about the NBA

    MLS Chicago Fire

reason? it soccer nobody cares. I <3 world cup tho. That and winter olyimpcs are the shit to watch.

PGA Fred Couples and Bob Estes both whom i have met and played with personally. Great guys and really down to earth.

Overall i dont follow sports very close but i enjoy watching just about all of them. There is no real logic to my favorite teams at some point in time when i had to pick teams or players to root for i picked these and just stuck with them. Outside of the WhiteSox i could not care less if all of these teams lost every game in a season by 30 or more points.

  15. this
  16. My fav. team is the Chiefs. I was born in K.C.
I also like the Cowboys (Dad & I had season tix for the 2 yrs in Junior High).
Redskins when I lived in MD. (eff the Ravens...at least when they had Billick, imo. I hated that guy.). My Dad is a Dolphins fan & I root against them out loud just to be contrarian, but I silently pull for them so he'll be happy.
  17. I'm a Packers fan because Aaron Rodgers is the best QB in the history of the NFL.
  18. College: Auburn, alumni

NFL: NY Jets, born in Hackensack, NJ. Dad had season tix until we moved to ATL when i was 8.

MLB: Braves, started playing baseball after we moved to ATL so naturally started rooting for them at that time. Didn't hurt that I moved here in '91, the first year of their 614 straight division championships.
  19. Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and GA Tech, obv I'm from GA, so my rooting interests are skewed towards the home-town teams.
  20. NFL- Patriots
Grew up in northern New England. So yeah I'm a homer.

    College-Ole Miss
It was on the top of my list of colleges I wanted to attend and I like the old wrinkly man with that wooden walking stick as their mascot.
  21. College- Florida State University. Graduated '01. Movetime I grew up going to Miami Games and painting my face green and orange but now I'm die hard Garnet and gold. You are dead to me.

NFL- Miami has the Dolphins the greatest football team. They take the ball from goal to goal like no one has ever seen. Their in the air, their on the ground their always in control and when you say miami you're talking super bowl. I miss my Marino.

MLB- Cubs since i've been in Chicago I have fell in love with the cubs. I still like the Marlins but even when they play Chicago i cheer for the cubbies.

NBA- The Bulls. Please see above
  22. pleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaase beat the clones!!

hawkeye football represents all that is right with the world
  23. grew up in pittsburgh, so Steelers / Penguins / Pirates / Pitt. When I was little I always liked the Packers and Orioles a bit (at least enough to call them my 2nd fav teams, not so anymore). I don't really care about the NBA, but since I live in Brooklyn now I'd entertain the notion of becoming a Nets fan if they moved here.

    omg - me, too!

Hokies b/c the hubby went there when we met and the first year i started really getting into football was the year they made the run at the nat'l championship - say what you want about vick as a person, but he was fun as fuck to watch in college

i'm also a carolina fan, as i'm an alumna, and will always root for my tarheels, but let's face it, we're never in the hunt when it comes to football - and i cheer for the arkansas razorbacks, too, as my dad's an alumni

Panthers b/c i live in charlotte and have watched them since they joined the nfl
  25. College - Clemson ... great football school - even though they got embarrassed on national tv in their opener. muthafucker...

Pro - Eagles - I grew. up in Redskins' territory and am somewhat a contrarian. Always liked the green - even though most of their fans are obnoxious.

Oh and I agree nothing like watching Vick in college. Lived near Blacksburg while he was there -sfsick.

  26. the Vick vs. Peter Warrick national championship game was amazing.
  27. NFL- EAGLES, born and bred. I live 5 mins from South Philly in NJ so it was always pretty easy to go over and tailgate. LOVE DA BIRDS.

    NBA- Sixers (see above)

    MLB- Phils (again)

    NHL- Flyers (again)

College Football- Notre Dame. Grandpa is pretty big on his Irish heritage which got me involved and I am now a die hard along with him.

College BBall- Any Philly school doing well (Drexel, Nova, St. Joes, Temple, LaSalle, Penn). I went to school at Drexel for 2 years so Im kinda more partial to them and the fact that they are left out of the Philadelphia Big 5 (I believe it should be the City 6 anyway lolz). Also if you have never witnessed a game at the Palestra on the UPenn campus you are totally missing out as a sports fan imo. Such history and great rivalries as all Big 5 schools also use this gym (mainly UPenn's homecourt tho). I also root for ND to do well.
  28. College Football- Syracuse Orange- Grew up in Syracuse and I can't explain the hell this program has been through the past 4-5 years. National laughingstock ftw.

NFL- Colts- I wouldn't call myself a true fan b/c I don't want to be a frontrunner, have no connections w/ Indy and never been there. But I do root for them and follow them closely. Harrison, Freeney, Josh Thomas lots of 'Cuse connections.

MLB-Indians- Mom is from Akron, spent portions of my summers in northeast Ohio and my first MLB games were Indians games. Loved them since I was little.

NBA-Magic- Moved down here when they were in the process of losing 19 games in a row. Never really had an NBA team growing up and thought I'd jump on the at a real lowpoint. Drafted Dwight the year after and it's been fun to watch a franchise go from pretty bad to a top 4-5 team in the East.
  29. so being from chicago the obv choices are bears, bulls, cubs, illini
  30. college: Michigan, south jersey kid, but for some reason my whole life ive loved michigan football, neither my parents or brother have much interest in them but ive always been a die hard fan, even now when im in college and even tho they are struggling this year ive accepted the fact its a rebuilding year, but they'll be back nfl: Philadelphia eagles, i live like 5 minutes outside out of philly, and id be killed by any1 if they werent my team, but when i was younger i used to love the dolphins, i think its cause i loved their colors...but right now its the birds E A G L E S EAGLES!
