12 team keeper league - standard 5x5 roto
Keeper system is 3 regular players + 1 ROY qualified player, the three regular players can be kept for 3 years then go back into pool. Rookie can be kept for 4 years. If traded, it adds one additional year onto "contract" for new GM.
Going into this year my keepers were: Lincecum, Utley, Adrian Gonzalez + Mitch Moreland
Obviously now have real concerns with Utley's injury and draft is tomorrow night. I can replace Utley with either Shin-Soo Choo (leaning towards him as my #1 replacement choice) or Verlander. I have already kept Utley for one year, this would be year two - so I could have him for this season and next if I kept him again. I think he's obviously lost all trade value at this point.
So would you pull the trigger on the keeper change? To which? Or would you gamble and hope Utley isn't decimated for this season? -
I would replace Utley with Choo, Choo is very consistent while Utley has been injury prone the last few years, given that this knee stuff is coming out before the season has even started I am just avoiding him in all drafts, I'll let someone else take that risk with their 2nd/3rd round pick.

i'd def switch to choo at this point. BEFORE the injury concerns utley was an early 2nd round pick and choo was late 2nd to early 3rd. add in the injury concerns and i think choo clearly makes up the gap
