    dont get caught up in ranks...go with current stats combined with potential (based on previous years)

    The two I now have in front of me are

    Justin Upton for ARod

    or

    Howard for Youkilis

    I'm just trying to sure up third base.

    Agreed. Snap call. Colon is a fukn bum...why anyone would involve that guy in a trade is beyond me...water will always find its level.

    I still like both of the trade offers. Youk gets better everyday and is an option at couple places now.

    Arod gonna get his numbers.

    I'd give up Upton for ARod...stay away from the other trade tho imo

    I just want to move one for our league because it's one of the two of them that is going to sit my bench.

    I need ellsbury to start to get my steals.

    I want to make the upton for Arod deal, but he's leary on it. The Youk for Howard is on the table at the moment but not going to better my team by that much more as the other one.

    If I was stuck in a vacuum, I would trade Upton for A-Rod in a heartbeat.

    I would also prefer Youkilis over Howard. It's close, but put over the edge by positional desire (assuming 5x5).

    If anyone wants to weigh in on a non-trade, I was recently approached to acquire Jared Weaver in a dynasty league. My initial starting point was Mike Trout and Carlos Santana for Weaver, Sergio Santos and Jonathan Lucroy. He offered Fernando Salas or Sean Marshall (SV+HD category) in place of Santos and may have been looking for a little cash as well.

    I would have insisted on Santos or at least Salas AND Marshall, but decided against it anyway at this point in time for several reasons...

    - too early in season
    - I'm comfortable with my current team, standings, etc...
    - I'm in the mindset of balancing current year with future as much as possible, especially given the above 2 items
    - some decent options available in free agency
    - not enough current talent in this trade IMO
    - Weaver's contract is nothing special, Santana's is pretty good (and I would rather have Santana than Lucroy going forward)

    He was very eager to do some deals now (our trade deadline is end of July), and ended up trading Weaver for Casey McGehee and a 1st Round draft pick. He also made a trade this morning, sending off Josh Hamilton and Sean Marshall for Raul Ibanez, Ramon Ramirez, $10 and a 1st Round draft pick, so he is going to be in very, very good shape for 2012.

    got the upton for arod deal done.

    We are playing some insane multi year contract salary auction draft w/ prospects league.

    Upton was getting paid 31 for 3 years and ARod was Only 15/3

    Need OTs help, did not want to create another thread.

    I had Buster Posey, obv he is out for the season. I was able to grab Lucroy off waivers, who should start getting more playing time the way he is hitting.

    Anyways, guy just offered me Victor Martinez for Pineda (who I got off waivers about a month ago) My pitching is stacked Halladay, Greinke, Cahill, Wilson, Jurrgens, Hellickson, couple more.

    Any thoughts?

    have you watched any of his starts this year? pretty good velocity with the fastball which he's been locating well. I wouldn't write him off so soon.

    $10 (2012 Salary Cap)
    2012 2nd Round Draft Pick (a moderate value, hard to quantify in brief)

    for

    Alex Rodriguez
    CC Sabathia
    Felix Hernandez

    Cargo (#1 player in our league last year) has a pretty sweet contract ($16 for '12, $21 for '13) and could be resigned for another couple years after that at fair-to-plus value still. For some perspective, most of the top guys available in free agency this year went for $40-$50 and a lot of real good contracts are in the $10-$20 range. None of the players on the other side of the deal are likely to be kept after this year (CC would be $26, A-Rod $33 and Felix $41) although none of them would be horrible contracts either on a 1-year basis.

    Team trading Cargo is currently in 2nd place (middle of the pack across the board pitching, so could make a huge jump with so much season left) and the other team is in and out of last place with very little realistic chance of making any sort of a run to finish in the top 3 (although there are incentives in place to finish as high as possible, especially 8th compared to 10th).

    I dont have enough experience in salary leagues but this doesnt even seem close. Cargo is not valuable to outweigh two superstars.
