  1. A long-awaited agreement between the <SPAN class=kLink>Ultimate </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>Fighting </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>Championship</SPAN> and the man considered the world's best mixed <SPAN class=kLink>martial </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>arts</SPAN> fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday, a source with information about the negotiations told The Times today.

The source, who asked not to be identified because he's not authorized to speak publicly about the dealings, called negotiations between the UFC and Fedor "very civil" just days after Fedor's scheduled Affliction Trilogy fight Saturday against Josh Barnett was canceled.

Affliction wound up folding its MMA promotion activities and announced an apparel deal to sponsor UFC.

Now, Fedor, who has previously fought in organizations including PRIDE Fighting Championships in Japan, Bodog Fight and Affliction, is crossing over to the world's most successful MMA fighting organization, as well.

With a 30-1 record that includes victories over former UFC <SPAN class=kLink>heavyweight </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>champions</SPAN> Tim Sylvia, Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Emelianenko would likely get an immediate shot at reigning UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar.

The source said officials were discussing details on the public announcement of the deal, which in the past has been complicated by Emelianenko's resistance to accept UFC's standard six-fight contract and his unwillingness to surrender some merchandising and marketing revenues.

But this month White said he was optimistic he could bring Emelianenko aboard, and his confidence was well-placed. The UFC declined to elaborate on Friday's scheduled announcement.

    OH-MY-FUCKING-HOLY-MONKEY-SHIT-BALLS!

    FINALLY!

Hopefully he stays around and doesn't do a hit and quit on the UFC as we'd like to see him stick around for awhile (win or lose).
  2. Would Fedor destroy Lesner or does Lesner have a legit shot?
  3. B================================================= =============D
  4. Fedor would submit him. I have not doubt in my mind on this!
  5. Fedor destroys Lesnar but the UFC will have a legit Heavyweight Champion when it happens. White knows he is setting up Lesnar to fall hard against Fedor. I know nutthuggers are going to think Lesnar can win...but he can't and won't.

He can't? looool. I'm a huge Fedor fan since the beginning and to say Lesnar doesn't have a chance is foolish.

Dana White isn't setting up Lesnar, He know's how many PPV buys that fight would bring in obviously and thats his main reasoning.

I agree. To simply dismiss Lesnar is insane. The guy is a fucking animal. Fedor will have his hands full but I think he will win. God I fucking hate Brock Lesnar.

Ive watched alot of Fedors fight and for some reason Lesnar scares me in this. Fedor cuts easily and ev1 knows anything can happen. I would say Fedor should win though but he cant make some of the mistakes hes made in the past.
  9. Anybody that says Lesnar doesn't have a chance is clueless about MMA.
  10. yessssssss
  11. Lesner has a better chance at beating fedor then anyone else at HW. If Lesner keeps improving his ground game and he work on leaks in his ground game he could just control Fedor like he did with Mir.
  12. MMA is like preflop hands in Omaha.

a big fav is a 2-1 at the very most.
  13. lets go Lesnar

    I got 4 - 1 that your post sucks.

    PS- Stop Posting
  15. Since when is the LA times a legitimate MMA source anyways? They have been in negotiations for a long time.....Hopefully this is legit though but only way I'll believe it is when I see Fedor in the octagon.
  16. If Lesnar had about 4-5 more fights under his belt I'd like his chances to win. I believe he's still green so to speak and someone as seasoned as Fedor will capitalize on any mistake Lesnar makes. If they fought tomorrow I'd like Fedor for sure. With that said Im a huge Brock fan and cant wait till his next fight.

  17. i have my doubts fedor can handle someone that big and strong on the ground. obv brock would be stupid to stand and swing with him
  18. Its just plain silly to dismiss Lesnar. His size, brute strength, and wrestling ability make him at least 50/50 with any heavy weight any where.

I wish this weren't true because the guy is a total meat head.
  19. these idiots writing off brock, are you the same people saying he would be no good in the ufc when he first started cause he was 'only a wwe fighter' etc etc??

you should probably try and learn from your mistakes.

  20. SI says no deal close for Fedor/UFC
<HR SIZE=1> Denying a published report Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times, M-1 Global officials told SI.com that Fedor Emelianenko and the <SPAN class=kLink>Ultimate </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>Fighting </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>Championship</SPAN> are not close to finalizing a deal that would bring mixed <SPAN class=kLink>martial </SPAN><SPAN class=kLink>arts'</SPAN> top heavyweight in the Octagon.

"I can give you a guarantee it's not accurate," said Apy Echteld of M-1 Global, a St. Petersburg, Russia-based promotion and management company of which Emelianenko is an equity stakeholder.

According to the Times' report -- which referenced an unnamed source unaffiliated with the UFC and "with information about the negotiations" -- UFC president Dana White was set to announce the signing of Emelianenko on Friday. The source also said negotiations between the top MMA promoter and the Russian champion's camp were "very civil," and that both groups were discussing details on the pending public announcement.

Echteld declined to comment on negotiations between M-1 Global and the UFC, which are rumored to be taking place Tuesday in Los Angeles. He pointed to a press conference Wednesday in Anaheim, Calif., for "important" news on Emelianenko's fate.

No they're saying it b/c Fedor has absoltuely destroyed every heavy weight in his path, including UFC heavyweight champions amassing a 30-1 record while brock has fought 4 fights against smaller opponents(well smaller than fedor).

  23. Most likely I think Fedor will end up submitting Brock and taking the title. Preferably with an arm bar or ankle lock or something crazier would be awsome. But obviously there is a lot of "variace" ...in Mixed Martial Arts and Brock is a freak of nature. He is so big and strong he can just use his size and wrestling abilities to just put people on their back flat and lay there on them trying to do some damage. But Fedor is way better on the ground compared to Frank Mir, and Brock knows that. With all that said my money is on Fedor obviously.
  24. I'm excited to see that oversized mother fucker get pooped on.

What has Brock shown you that he knows MMA? Brock is like all big strong people. They try to bully you and put you on the ground. Fedor has fought people like this and the end result is a victory for him.
  28. finally indeed........i can't wait, fedor ftmfw
