Depends on if you care about successfully keeping the friend thing going with the ex (and if you care to keep the friend thing going with your friend/ex's best friend because obv that has potential to change the dynamic). That being said, my overall opinion is that if it's just a hook up and that's it, why risk two friendships? I'd say to not hook up with her. Just keep hanging out with her as friends and let her flirt with you and see how things go. Then weigh your options a little later and re-evaluate the situation.

Also, this is how girls think, not how guys think. Just hit it and get over it. Added bonus, girl #1 might realize she wants you back and you can hit that too.

Fuck girl #2. Put a ton of extra effort into it and make it a night she will never forget. Then girl #2 will most definitely tell girl #1 about it and girl #1 will come back to you.

If you guys have been going out for years im sure you will end up back together. Every relationship goes threw that on/off again status. Now chances are you won't be with this girl forever. So id try to bang as many of her friends as possible just so i can add to my tally of chicks i banged. However this chick being her best friend this could just be some test of sort.

If it was her idea to be friends theres prolly another dude she's interested in. Most girl's dont break it off with a guy if there isn't at least some intrest somewhere else.
