the 'EA CUP' just started up, any idea what that is or how it works?

also, I lol'd pretty hard when I read this:

"This involves choosing various options such as team and line-up before being matched with an opponent. This change is intended to counter the problem of being paired with opponents who choose one of a small number of five-star teams, a situation that often results in repetitive matches between the same few clubs.[23]"

In my last 20 games, over half have been against either Madrid or Barcelona.

I have been playing teams in H2H seasons that aren't just the main few teams. Maybe it's because I haven't gotten very far into it (only in division 9), but I've remembered playing teams like Liverpool, Juventus, and Chelsea (aside from Madrid & Barca, that is).

I haven't really played anyone but my friends on XBLive in friendlies though (and we always just choose teams more or less at random--just pick different teams each game). I imagine most people will be playing with the usual top level teams only once I start playing better opponents in H2H seasons?

I've noticed how hard it is to cross and have almost abandoned it from my offensive game. At the same rate, on defense I've also been just letting people try to cross it (by just pushing them to the outside) because I know it's so hard to do it right, thus a smaller chance that they score from it. A lot of people will still try to cross it, but I have noticed some people start to push the ball deep and then pass it back for a one-touch shot or try to dribble it in closer, so you have to watch out for that. Otherwise, it's been working so far for the most part.

yeah this is good in h2h but doesn't seem to do much against world class AI. I got beaten 6-0 v Barca in a 12 min game. sigh

Why is defense just to contain i just cant process this "contain" lets go full speed at the ball like were gunna steal it then stop right before we can and let the guy do whatever he wants around us, AS LONG AS WE KEEP THE BALL IN FRONT. WHAT IN THE MOTHER FUCK FIFA???? Oh just use the RB and tackle button. Oh do you mean the button that makes my defense to completely stop and stand still to stomp the ground like their killing a fucking spider and let the guy just trot right by for a break away? Trueeeee thats what I thought.

This game fucking sucks just give me one fucking reason why I cant use legacy defending online? Why? Why? why? why even have it still in the fucking game if you cant use it online. FUCK YOU EA.

havent played 12 yet...ill be getting it when i go home in 2 weeks...i just read all the reviews on here, though...the defending sounds awful, which im not looking forward to...but whoever was saying how crosses are harder, thank god...i hated playing those guys that would just run to the corner click x and itd go right onto drogbas head where he'd jump over my defenders back for a goal...was unbelievably tilting...it was definitely the most unrealistic part of 11...cant wati to play 12...ill be back with my review when i get the game

I'm having a problem where my tactics change automatically while playing FIFA, as if the d-pad were being pressed when it isn't. It was happening on one controller, so I started using the other, and over the past couple weeks that one started doing it to. At the same time, my players would switch automatically while on defense (I have settings set to full manual player switching) and I would do chip shots without pressing L1.

I looked all over PS3 & Fifa settings and didn't see anything that could account for this - I obv thought it was a controller issue - and guy at Gamestop said older controllers can act this way. I bought a new controller, but it's doing the same thing. It's actually more severe.

has anybody ever come across this? I was sure it was the cotrollers but now that I bought a new one and it's doing same thing I'm completely stumped. Makes it pretty much impossible to play, esp online against good opponents.

Any help would be appreciated.
