Every now and then I log on to OT and all I see is political threads people saying that McCain will win like its a fact etc. and posts like how Obama lost the election. So you can imagine my shock when I log onto various bookmaker sites and see Obama is still a reasobable strong favorite and you can get well over 2-1 on McCain to win.
Given this and the fact that the financial markets and housing markets are in such bad shape, why aren't you guys withdrawing your savings and betting on Mccain at 130-150% return on your money depending on where you bet. You guys seem so certain, why not get rich off your great knowledge of the future. -
how much did you put on obama?
-
will def be betting mccain soon... 500-1k.... getting great value at 2to1

Nothing as of yet. As an outsider whose opinion is largely influenced by what they read in newspapers and see on BBC its seems very even to me at the moment, meaning McCain represents better value at current odds. I wish I put $ on McCain a month or so ago, his odds were a lot longer then, the momentum seems to be going his way with Obama not picking Hillary and him picking Palin.
Obviously as a non American I would like to see Obama win, perhaps I should bet McCain so either way i'm happy. -
Obviously as a non American I would like to see Obama win...
Umm, why is that? -
No! There is more stuff but that is most foreigners care about.

Thats certainly a big part of it. Like I said, i'm an outsider so am influenced by what I see and read over here (London). The way McCain is portrayed is to be another Bush (that might be wrong, but thats how he is portrayed), and I certainly wasn't a fan of Bush. Also, while in America a while back, I went to an Eddie Vedder solo show in San Diego, and he talked a lot about how terrible Republicans are, and he can't be wrong can he. (hidden brag, obv his opinion shouldn't be treated as gospel.)
Also, i'll never be a fan of political parties whose policies seem strongly influenced by religion.
