Well I've been grinding out poker for the past 4 years and now its gone. I'm still 1 year away from graduating with a bachelors of econ. Safe to assume my only job prospects are at minimum wage places?

How hard will it be finding one of these types of jobs if my only experience was working as a dishwasher for about 6 months when I was 18?
Currently asking around about internships as well so hopefully I can just pick up a paid one there or something. -

internships are looking like the best way to go for me, as my resume is lacking anything relevant and pretty empty. Plus an internship in the area of you degree will look good for jobs after college

Wanted: Amateur Stuntman (downtown / civic / van ness)
Have you ever been set on fire? Have you ever endured a fall of three or more stories? Do you have an aptitude for sustaining a drubbing? Well, if you answered “Yes” to two or more of those questions I have an alluring proposition for you. My short film is high in spirits but low in budget; so we are canvassing craigslist for someone looking to help this feature in return for the opportunity to ad to their stunt reel.
You will be: 1) Engulfed in flames 2) dropped four stories (whilst consumed by the blaze) 3) run over by a 1986 Dodge Diplomat (we are open to using a different make and model for the car).
We have not done this type of thing before and, in the interest of full disclosure, aren’t exactly sure what we’re doing; but what we lack in experience we more than make up with enthusiasm.
So, if this seems like it would be up your alley, have action film experience or just want a witness cinematic history let us know. Compensation: craft services (6 inch sub, bag of chips and assortment of domestic beers). -

Wish I could give you good news OP. I will be graduating from Michigan State with an Econ degree in <1 month, poker fucked up my work history as well, only been getting sparse calls from minimum wage places in the area, not looking good.

Seriously, there are pro's like myself who do quite well being a waiter/bartender. Sure, I grind 60-70 hrs a week but I still have time to go to the gym and used to be able to play 20 hrs a week of online poker. All my bills are paid and I deposit money in the bank 2x a week. I never cash my paychecks till the end of the month, which I use to pay all the monthly bills and most often have another 3 hundo or so to deposit.
If you want you can use me on your resume as well. I have been part owner and GM for two restaurants, you can always say you worked for me. PM if you need to. -

Ok, fair enough and I think the stupid movie "waiting" was a huge disservice to all in this line of work. There are pros who would never compromise food safety even if they hated the customer. There is such a thing as great service, and when you keep yourself at that level it can be a very rewarding line of work.

im literally in the same boat as you except i just recently graduated, econ as well ...also have a rather mediocre resume, sadly internships are probably the best option... theres no reason to suck it up and work minimum wage/sub-par paying jobs when you're so close to graduating and having a legit opportunity to make bank, but ... oh wait... the job market is awful and nothing is guaranteed so i guess its cool that tons of kids are graduating thousands in debt with no guaranteed jobs well played America, i suppose i would point the finger at one Mr. George W. Bush
