  1. i never saw the other series that the crooked ref says is fixed but i watched this series. obv fixed. blatat attempt to get the 2 biggest stars and the largest market in the finals so t.v. ratings go up. i hope at the very least the investigation will make it so the bryant/gretzky/lebron type stars dont get free calls and the officiating becomes better.

  2. if i were OP, I'd be afraid to post in OT too...
  3. LOL COSIGN

  4. yea, wayne def gets way to many tic tac penalties called in his favor
  5. You know what I enjoy most about the "NBA fixed 02 series so LA would play - higher ratings"? the fact that new jersey beat the celtics in the east. So the nba would fix it so la plays...the nets???? like anyone gives a shit about the nets? if the nba was fixing, wouldn't they have la v beantown, like this year?
  6. I love it when David Stern denies it. Every time he denies it he says this man is a conviced fellon. 100% fixed. I don't think he has any reason to lie. I wouldn't doubt that league officials are behind this either. They stood to make alot of money if that game goes to 7, not to mention the higher ratings from the Lakers being in the finals.
  7. yea but the thing about that year is that the celtics were'nt nearly as good or marketable (antoine walker isnt exactly kobe bryant), and at that point the media was swinging all over jason kidd's nuts, so it would look REALLY shady if the celtics won, instead of kinda shady (at the time) on how the lakers won
  8. I think it was fixed and Stern loves that ad hominem (look, I learned a new word Jeff).

  9. On ESPN radio yesterday I heard some very interesting discussion of this topic. Donaghy(sp?) obviously knows if he lies to an FBI agent about anything, he's going to be charged with perjury, and yet he still tells them this. The FBI is very quick to charge people with perjury if they think they are lied to (Bonds, Martha Stewart), yet Donaghy has not been charged. Also, Donaghy knows if he gets charged with anything else, he's looking at serious jail time, yet he still told them this. I don't know if I'm giving him too much credit for common sense, but it doesn't seem impossible for that series to havve been fixed.
  10. Exactly dank, he is trying to get time taken off not added on. This is the truth a large percent of the time.
  11. Anyone who watched the series knows it appeared to be fixed. Whether or not it was officially fixed, the ref's were the reason the Lakers won that game. And Stern's denials hold no merit and are meaningless. I guarentee you if you asked him about Donaghy the day before he was charged he would have said that that was impossible too.
  12. how would they prove donaghy is lying? are the refs and stern going to break down and admit they didn't fix anything? lol
  13. As usual you choose to beleive the man in charge instead of your lying eyes
  14. Anyone who watched that kings lakers series knows for a fact it was fixed, unless your a lakers fan. The calls against the kings were atrocious at best, it was so sick to watch such a blatant fix

  15. I believe what about what now? please attempt to make sense
  16. Uh, yeah, fixed. It's clear Donaghy helped fix the Spurs-Suns series, why would it be hard to believe that the NBA worked with its refs to get a game 7 in 02?

Billions of dollars are placed on pro sports. You are very naive if you think the outcomes are always left to chance.
  17. The billions of dollars are the reason that I think the games are always left to chance.

conspiracy theories are always fun, though.
  18. here is an intersting story i found in the new york times about game 6 of the 2002 western conf finals

You think shady people who have millions riding on the outcome of a game ensure that the games are left to chance?
  21. lolz

  22. I think that the david stern is not going to risk his very lucrative league for a few rating points. Fixing games is the only way to kill you're league. The gain is so small when compared to the risk. Also this is the fucking nba, its not the mafia, why would all these refs who are supposedly fixing games stay quiet? what do they have to fear? Stern's been commissioner for 25 years, there would be way more coming forward if this was going on, not just the guy who is getting sued for a mil and facing jail time.

also look at the league this decade. The spurs are by far the most successful franchise, while the knicks have been the least successful. If the league was so corrupt this wouldn't happen. Also, again if the league was so corrupt, I'm sure they would have stepped in and kept shaq in a major market and on a dynasty team.

It just makes no sense to do it and there is not one bit of proof, just the allegations of a dishonest guy who has nothing to lose. I don't get why people are so quick to believe this.
