I've been a fan of the gel pen for quite some time.
These are my preferred pen: http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...table-Gel-Ink/
But, I've recently become fascinated with fountain pens.
This type of thing: http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...in-Pen-Medium/
But now the question remains: Is it douche-like to you a fountain pen? Will I be viewed as a pretentious asshat if I bust out the fountain pen?
OT's advice is sought for this critical matter... -
This is a critical decision... When I was in HS I had a brief fascination with them and I wondered the same thing.
-
hmmmm 15 bucks for a dozen pens or 90 for 1 pen...is it really that tough??
-
I have never used a fountain pen in my life so cant really help here
-
It depends on the setting. If you're going to sign a bill into law, a fountain pen makes you look like a true founding father. If you're sitting in Home Economics taking notes on how to make the perfect light bulb pillow, a fountain pen could make you the focus of jest and ridicule from females.
-
I've never found fountain pens to be pretentious or douchey, but then again my dad uses his Pelikan for most everything so I may have a bias
-
I should clarify that I'm not really interested in the $90 pen from Office Depot. That link was just for illustration purposes.
This is more my style: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories
I wanna take an inexpensive fountain pen for a test drive before I drop a lot of dough on a fancy-shmancy $100+ pen. -
doubt a $15 fountain pen will tell you anything at all about a legit one, there's a reason why the expensive ones are expensive.
Seriously, I've tried using a cheap fountain pen and its one of the worst writing experiences ever, using a uniball is more representative -
The real issue here is the amount of security required for the pen. People will want to steal it. Humans are stupid like that. It's like with sunglasses, after the first few 50x of having them stolen or broken you realize what ZZ Top was saying all along.
Do you really want so much mental effort into a pen? Pens and lighters, either you go 50 of em or you got none. Know what I am saying? -
I like fountain pens but they can get pretty messy
-
100% yes.
-
fountain pens are teh gay

-

My personal favorite. Cheap, $4 something for 2 at Walmart. But, rugged, long lasting and durable.

Sharpie Pens, ftw... As for fountain pens, not douchey at all. If you used a feather, that'd be douchey...
-
just plain stupid.
-
Theres nothin wrong with a fountain pen but worrying about how other people will react is douchy. Its just a pen ffs.
-
When I used to live in the uk all written assignments had to be submitted in fountain pen.
-
They seem a little outdated. I have a few good pens, but at the rate I lose them or loan them out and never get tehm back, a fountain pen is definitely not the optimal choice.
-
I would have no use for them but i could see a lawyer or politician wanting to sign important doc's with something classy like the Mont Blanc.
