He has pretty much perfectly forced the Mets hand in terms of resigning. Citi Field will be a fucking morgue next season if they don't hand him the blank check. -
Derek Jeter tho. I mean, no way anyone can compete with all of Jeter's intangibles.

Level?

Double Level?
Agree on the second half of your post, but Reyes ain't the best player in baseball, and the only way Reyes>Tulo is if you are looking at Reyes' career season vs Tulo's 2nd worst season (1st since he's been an established star) in a vacuum, not to mention Tulo shits on Reyes as a fielder.
Even just going by WAR, Reyes is 19th best position player in MLB. Obv I'll give him the nod over guys like Span, Joyce, Berkman, Avila, Quentin, and Gaby Sanchez, but saying he is #1 is pretty absurd. Best player in NY, best middle infielder without a T in his name, and that's about it. -
Yeah he is the best player in NY - don't think that can be argued any longer. And I'd love him in the Bx, but I'm pretty happy for a lot of my friends who are great, loyal Mets fans that they aren't gonna be losing him.
Above the obvious great stats that Reyes throws up there, he is also beyond debate the #1 sparkplug in the league - I think he is one of those rare players that has the effect of raising his teammates play when he is healthy. Obviously I have no way of quantifying this, but when he is at his best, look in the dugout - he is constantly working the whole dugout, and doubt anybody else is going through the motions when he is on.
He reminds me of how we felt when we played as kids. -
I wouldn't say he is THE best player in the league, but the list ahead of him is really short.
Not sure about who is better between Reyes and Tulo; my first instinct is Reyes > Tulo, but willing to admit I can be wrong on that one - gonna look into the numbers a little more. -
Matt Kemp atm >>>>>>>>>> Jose Reyes
-
Joey Bats > All
-
Agreed on first part. Second part, I think it's the defense that sets them apart. Plus I'll take a slugging SS who can swipe a few bases over a speed burning SS.

Smart enough to realize one of the worst things to talk about at a bar or message board is politics.
-
Reyes' lifetime OPS is .777; Tulo's lifetime OPS away from Coors is .800.

where did i say he's the best overall player in baseball ?
looking at kemp's last month or so, my lawd, but jose is right there. he is just hitting the ball hard every at bat, and the mets are playing really well now despite bay being a complete embarrassment, and wright and davis on the dl. most exciting player in baseball, and it's amazing the impact he has on the game.
