fun stuff in west philly?

    So the deal is that I just decided to be a professional poker player about a month ago for the couple of years I plan on taking after college and before the next thing (probably some kind of grad school).

    So I decided to move in with some friends in West Philly on the Upenn campus. I am really really excited after living in the shit-hole of Winston-salem for four years. But I've never been to philly before. I think I'm going to visit in a couple of weeks, so shout out the fun stuff the people familiar with the city do and maybe the best dive bar/music/whatever scenes to go explore.

    cliffnotes: living in philly soon, don't know what's there other than the Fresh Prince, looking for fun stuff to do there in a few weeks.

    west philly is ghetto, but u are not far from downtown if u are at penns campus, market street has a lot of fun bars down by 1st-6th street(we call it old city) there is also a really good comedy club called helium at about 22nd about 3 blocks off of market...

    Manayunk is fun(NWish philly) main street has 5645656 bars, and the crowd is mostly recent college grads, sports bars, clubs, chill bars, basically every kinda bar u want, and plenty of drunk girls stumbling around

    suburbs- not too far where u are, lots of fun stuff out here

    i love the upenn campus. my bro had a townhouse on 41st and locust back in the day and we would go to the frat house on 38th and walnut. koch's deli = so motherfucking good!

    Olde City is good place, pricey but nice upscale. Manayunk you can never go wrong with it's got so many bars and is alittle pricey. I like Finnigan Wake's cause I like bands and it's always packed.

    Has a ton I mean ton of bars on main street, it's alot of the under 30 crowd goes that are really looking for bar type and some clubish type but ain't trying to pay $20 bucks to get into like Olde City. You gotta check out Geno's/Pat's steaks ha. What else is there hm check out a phillies game if u never been there. SHOW n TEL strip club BYOB(Kegs/ bottles ect) 1:00 am they have the 1 on 1 girl on girl show straight porn two girls one straps it on and they go to town, ton of good strip bars. Chickie n Pete's nice sports bar get the carb fries.

    I just saw the word Philly a few times on the first page and remembered this thread. Im not banned now, so i can finally reply.

    I used to goto drexel and lived within walking distance of where you are going to be living.

    Theres not that much going on around there but ill give you a little bit of info. Im not really sure what the UPenn bars are, but I know a lot of people from Drexel used to goto Cavs (Cavanoughs) all the time. Its on the 38th and Samsun. Right down the street on samson is a place called Blarney Stone. I didnt go there much, but its not too bad.
    Just so you know. The beer store is on 42nd (somehwere between 41st and 44th) and Walnut. Just drive down walnut and its on the left. I know that knowing where the beer store is, is a crucial part, so i figured id tell you.

    On 38th and Chestnut there is a cheesesteak place called Abners. Its pretty good.

    Right next to Abners, underneath the chilis (yes, underneath) is a strip club. Its like 95% balck women and is always good for a laugh. Go there during lunch time and they serve free abners cheesesteaks.

    Cavs is a sports bar. last time I was there was for sunday football and the Eagles were playing the Cowboys and there was almost a knife fight between a group of Eagles fans and Cowboys fans.

    I never went there to watch the football games. Went a few times for some nightly specials during baseball season.

    But its def a college bar on wednesday and thursday night.
