  1. Hi OT'ers, Merry Christmas and all that. I will offer a future steak in the sunday 200 grand (that ginormous tourney 11 buyin with 20000+ players) or in the midnite madness, for a little help. Here goes....

I have a belkin router, got a new lappie for my gf for her birthday, and whilst checking it out for the first time discovered that we couldn't get it to access the wireless router we have set up in the house. I lost the WEP key needed to access the router.

I tried to reset the router and now even though the router is on the lappies (we have 3) are not finding it at all. any ideas?

    Mike
  2. your 100% sure the laptop has a built in wireless router...sry had to ask?
  3. I only get more confused by this post. A router is completely different than a lappie with wireless capability.

  4. Look on the physical router. Their should be a number on the box that works.

obv...but if the laptop does not have a wireless modem its not gonna connect wirelessly
  6. When resetting you must hold the button in for 30 secs. Then you will see the default wireless network. You could find an ethernet cable and hardwire to the router then type into your browsers address bar 192.168.2.1 which I think is default for belkin gear. This should give you the config screen which you used to first set up your wep....=D Hope this helps
  7. Ditch the Belkin junk and get anything from Netgear, it'll work right out of the box with minimum configurations required from yourself. I've never bought anything from Belkin that worked as it should.
  8. Mike,

hold the reset button for about a minute and then connect it via ethernet to your laptop. then open up your browser and try the address 192.168.1.1 a username password box should pop up. (if you don't know it the username will probably be blank, and depending on your model the password will either be admin or MiniAP). this should take you to the setup menu where you can change the router name and password. if 192.168.1.1 doesnt work you can try 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.0.1

hope this helps. if you need any more help just ask

  9. Resetting will work, as others have suggested. But, you will have to rconfigure wireless and all that, all over again.

You can login to you device by pointing your browser to http://192.168.1.1/ or whatever your default gateway is.

Once you login (get your password from the manual if you didnt change it. Or look up your model on the web to find it) you can change the wep keys to something new, write it down this time, and tape it to the bottom of your belkin.
  10. I am pretty sure the default username is ADMIN with no password. That is what I remember from the one I set up a year back. Also, the default IP address should be 192.168.0.1.
  11. I like my future steak medium rare plz.
  12. I bought a Belkin wireless G router for my in laws and set it up. It is a pain in the ass to setup compared to my Linksys. Call them up at 1-800-2Belkin, they will take care of it for you and walk you through it in 10 minutes, barely any wait time, only thing is, you might have to ask the rep to repeat himself numerous times. ship to luckyleewon1
