I think they have jacked up Tyrion's Kings landing defense. In the book he started planning the defense as soon as he got to Kings Landing with the huge chain. We haven't see anything about the chain, and the last episode had Tyrion almost frantically coming up with a defense

they touched on building the chain and the pyro defense. -
It's pretty awesome. How did a frost dragon lord show up in the dark forest? Cuz you drank my juice pack fucker.
-
I knew they had the pyro defense, but i guess I missed the chain. It didnt make sense to me since Kings Landing is on the Sea in the show and was on a river to trap the boats in the book

Cant wait for the mountain and the red viper battle, and when the unsullied turn on astapor. both should be classics.

hate the way he killed off Jon Snow! -
i thought this was a hunger games reference
-
Yea wtf I knew they had left out the chain on the Blackwater. That idea was so awesome in the book
-
when is the new book supposed to come out? Anyone know?

I think there are few thinks that could happen, in no particular order:
1.) Jon is dead
2.) Jon wargs out of his body at the last moment like the precedent sent by Varamyr Sixskins in the prologue
3.) Jon is wounded but lives
4.) Jon dies and is brought back from the dead like either Beric, Cat 2.0, Mountain 2.0
5.) Jon is the blue flower growing in the base of the wall in dany's vision. Jon dies and his body is placed in the wall and the magic within the wall somehow gives him life.
6.) Jon is reborn as the real 'prince who was promised'. -
ugh, I might as well go ahead and listen to 4 and 5 then after next week's episode
-
Pretty sure Jon Snow is not dead.
That said, happy to see that there are finally some actual spoilers up in here. Can't tell you how much I wanted the first post itt to just say "Tyrion kills his dad" or something like that.
So next week there's minor fallout in King's Landing and then Robb gets married, house of Undying, Jon kills the Halfhand, Sam kills something all evil and mysterious with dragonglass, Theon gets pwned and Bran has to run away before the Bolton Bastard takes Winterfell? And there has to be an Arya scene too? Wow, good luck... -
That's the one I meant... Jaqen is a trippy character and it's pretty fun to speculate who he is in later books and/or who he was before. I still don't think Syrio Forel is dead... could they be the same person? Syrio can't possibly have died to Ser Meryn... remember, Meryn's the pussy who Tyrion and Bronn totally work over in the great scene where Tyrion says "Bronn, if Ser Meryn speaks again, kill him. You see, that's a threat." No chance that guy could kill the First Sword of Braavos. Then Jaqen, who can kill infinity people and is a faceless man, adept at taking new identities and killing, randomly ends up in chains in the dungeons of King's Landing? Two mysterious master killers who both have spent large amounts of time in Braavos both randomly end up taking to Arya? Really?
-
i don't think the timeline works for syrio being jacquen
and braavos is the mysterious master killer capital of the world, so i don't think it's *that* surprising -
don't know how jaqen would be daario; isn't he busy at the citadel?
i guess being daario would put him closer to the dragons -
Do you at least think he's alive? GRRM loves to graphically kill his people, and the only ones I can think of in the first season where we don't actually see the death are Syrio (who gets left in the room against a pussy who is terrified of Bronn, and I'm guessing First Sword of Braavos is a better swordsman than Bronn) and the girls' septa. We at least see her head on a stick later, but nothing about Syrio.

We should ask Varys. -
Do you think we will ever get a Varys POV? I absolutely loved the epilogue in ADWD. Based on the last 200 pages of ADWD and the direction that storylines seem to be heading, I think The Winds of Winter will be on level with A Storm of Swords. I personally think ASOS is easily the best of the 5 so far.

No book snob would appreciate that heaping pile of shit. Shows legit though.

It (TWoW) kind of has to be as action-packed/crazy as ASoS if there's any hope wrapping up this series in two books.

Are you all believers in the "new Aegon"? That all kind of caught me off guard, and didn't fit with where I thought everything was heading. Now that they've landed/started capturing castles, I'm not sure where they are heading...Littlefinger arranging a marriage to Sansa? to Dany? Is he the "mummer's dragon"?
