  1. Waiting for paperback on Dance With Dragons.

    As for season 2...

  2. Started reading book 1 but caved and ended up watching the whole first season over the weekend. Thought it was awesome. Gonna go back and finish the first book and then hopefully the second before s2 starts.

  4. I powered through book 2 after watching the first season but I've been milking book 3 for a while. It's so good but I don't shit enough to find the time to finish it. I can't wait for April 1!!

I think I read that Game of Thrones makes more money per episode for HBO than any other show they've ever done. I'm guessing it has to do with them selling distribution rights to other media outlets throughout the world.

  6. Watched the second episode last night and now I'm hooked. Holy shit this show is going to be great, such amazing dynamic between the two families pushing the kid out the window and then forcing them to kill the wolf (so fucking ridiculous that bitch made them do that).

  8. Yeah definitely a noob. My brother has been raving about it for awhile and I didn't love the first episode (typical HBO introduce eleventy billion characters first episode) but the second episode set things up for greatness. Gonna hammer this out in no time.
  9. I recommend doing a little homework on the characters/houses when they introduce new ones:

  10. Awesome thanks. That already cleared up one confusion I had
  11. Was just thinking about buying the first book. Been on a reading kick recently, just finished my 5th book this month. Have mostly stopped watching TV and have been reading instead and it has actually been pretty nice.

  12. Definitely buy it.
  13. Great show. Since the season ended I've read every book start to finish (I take a 40 minute subway to work).
I won't give any spoilers, but have to say I love Martin for making this story so unpredictable.

So far I think HBO has done an outstanding job casting and adapting the books into a TV series.

Several reasons for that and they all involve George Martin.

    1. He's an executive producer on the series.
    2. He works closely with the script writers and is credited as one.
    3. He understands the difference between written books and acted scripts. Not many authors do. Mario Puzo and J.K. Rowling are 2 others that do.

One think I've noticed about the 1st season is that it has much more sex in it than the first book does though not more than the subsequent books. I'd speculate that he had to tone down the sex in order to get the first book published but after it was a hit he could write what he wanted. Kind of like the first season of the series is done the way the author wanted to do the book but couldn't.
