Lots of stuff doesn't make sense. If the whitewalkers can do the shit they did in the first season why arent they ruling the whole kingdom. I'm sure stuff will be developed as we go.

why dont you post another spoiler in a random thread and then not apologize for doing so. who does that shit and then laughs it off? Fn trolls r us

Whatever force/god exists that created them has been asleep at the wheel the last 8000 years or so.

wights can be killed by fire but have you seen a white walker killed by fire at any point of the first season and a half??? The answer is no. I think it was speculated they can be killed by fire but we don't know for sure. except you do, because you've read the books and know the outcome.

i cant help it you didn't watch the damn show when it aired. Who the fuck doesn't watch the best tv show on tv when it airs but has time to troll threads about Obama. Here's another spoiler Michael Scott leaves the Office and the Heat won the first two games of their series with the Knicks
  5. WTF does reading the thread have to do with it. They are white walkers. My apologies for mentioning the book, it doesn't change the fact that you are wrong. What am I missing? Just because you decided it was wight walkers it makes it so?

So HBO changed the name to a homonym of the creatures that they create, pretty confusing and stupid...

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. They're referred to as both the 'white walkers' and 'the others' in the first two books. Same with HBO. I've always assumed they're called white walkers because they are creatures of winter

Prolly cuz I recanted my momentary idiocy like 2 posts later. I always thought of it as Others and wights (that's like 20,000 pages ago in my reading trajectory, so I tend to compartmentalize and remember one name for things), so having never read HBO's website or anything to check for spelling, I momentarily brainfarted and assumed that I was hearing some nonsensical combination of both... they've made some random name changes in the series, which prolly helped my temporary idiocy.

Even better when they start their pedantic posts with "I don't normally get all pedantic" and are wrong... I'm a fucking clownshoe. Difference between me and most of OT is, I'll admit it. I can try to make excuses about how absurd and easily confusing it is to have White Walkers making wights, but really, this brain just doesn't function like it used to.

    Let's move on.

well, he did draft a raven-express letter warning Rob of the whole attack, but then he burned it and decided to go with the whole iron islands thing. he did realize something last ep about his role in the attack, although I'm not sure what that is yet.

he's being used as a diversion to get soldiers/men to leave Winterfell to go take back the Stony Shore or wherever... it already happened last ep

I didn't take away from that scene that he was being used as a diversion. i do think the guy who plays Chris Finch, in The Office, is manipulating Theon's desire for approval and identity.

really? I thought that it was pretty obv, but if I am wrong, then I'm confused.

Theon attacked and then Bran approved the men to leave to take it back, thus leaving Winterfell weaker to attack, no?

it looked to me like Theon finally realized what his role was, and was somewhat happy about it... I may have missed or misinterpreted something tho

This is correct. Theon conspires with one of his men to attack one of the forts ("40 leagues from winterfell) to create a diversion and have Bran send all his men to help ... which he did ... then im guessing they will attack a weakened winterfell after this. Also Bran had a dream the ocean washed over winterfell. Iron islands, ocean, ships, etc. Put two and two together.

Incorrect. They are know as "the others" in the books.

From a GOT nerd website ...

The White Walkers, referred to as the Others in the books, are a mythological race mentioned in ancient legends and stories from the time of the First Men and the Children of the Forest. Eight thousand years before Robert's Rebellion, a winter known as the Long Night lasted a generation. In the darkness and cold of the Long Night, the White Walkers descended upon Westeros from the furthest north, the polar regions of the Lands of Always Winter. None knew why they came, but they killed all in their path, reanimating the dead as wights to kill the living at their command. Eventually the peoples of Westeros rallied and in a conflict known as the War for the Dawn, the White Walkers were defeated and driven back into the uttermost north, with the Wall raised to bar their return. In the present day, most believe they never existed and are just the stuff of legends, and even the few who believe they did once exist think they went extinct thousands of years ago. Certainly, none has been seen for thousands of years.
According to legend, the White Walkers speak a language known in myth as "Skroth".

While held as myths and spoken of in the same breath as "snarks" and "grumpkins", there is a growing belief amongst the wildlings who live beyond the Wall that the White Walkers have returned.

Mis-use of the term white-walker. I was thinking of the scene when Snow tossed the lantern on the 'wight' (proper term now).

    My mistake.

  27. Around the 20 min mark Theon and Dagmire(sp) decide to take the bigger village. We don't know if that was the plan is father/sister had in mind for him, seems like they came up with it on their own.

  28. I have a hard time following this show and keeping track of everyones name etc. Maybe because of the accents, I dont know. So explain to me that whole scene before he gets on the boat? "I'm the captain" blah blah blah. He's talking to that guy and all of a sudden realizes.......what exactly? They share a look and then smile. Confused.jpg

Yeah, his first mate lets Theon know that the other sailors (who were assholes to Theon) on his ship are Iron born (what ever he said) and they do as they please. Basically he tells Theon, fuck what your dad said and do what you want. It's cool here. So Theon says fuck it...let's attack the castle by Winterfell and then they may have the potential to attack Winterfell with less guards as said earlier in this thread a few posts ago. Dad and sister had nothing to do with this.
