Its a little scary leaving a job after so long, but I've rented a store-front on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood and I'll be selling Cupcakes and Ice Cream.
:-)
My store will be like a combination of Sprinkles Cupcakes and Baskin Robbins and I'll have about 8 tables for outdoor seating. I'll give you more details about the name and such when I'm closer to opening, probably within a month.
The 15th is my last day here at The Sheet.
Just thought I'd share.

Fat people can't stop eating desserts. Now with a combo of cupcakes AND ice cream, you can't fail. Let us know when it opens. I'll come down from the Valley in a flash (well, as fast flash as I can muster).

Will be sure to let you know. I don't think I'll have some big grand opening until I've been open awhile.
I can also have live music outdoors. I'm on the corner of Sunset and Labrea in between Pollo Loco and Wendys. But I'm on Sunset. -

I'd rather not say the name til the logo and all that kinda stuff is done.
I'll be open from noon til 3am 7 days a week and there is a ton of parking available all night long. Most of the stores in my plaza all close at 6pm so the lot is rather empty which is really nice. -

ummmmm open shops mean more customers. ;) from one former retail store owner to another, just saying. cross traffic is a key feeder to any store, not to mention it keeps you from getting robbed having witnesses around.
on the UP side, maybe you will crush during the day and be able to get home at a reasonable hour which also means mega savings on salaries. those silly long hours can make you insane.
sure would be nice if a hot restaurant or liquor store or coffee shop was on your block to snag the dessert and munchies crowd. (think about opening one lol.)

Its all good bro, I know what you're saying. But I'm on one of the busiest corners in LA. There are about 50 nightclubs within a quarter mile and parking is a major hassle.
You're not a downer at all, I like hearing all opinions cause I may learn something.
During the day when all the businesses are open, the parking is a problem because the employees are using the lot.
The best part of the deal is the fact that there is a ton of parking at night, and there is an armed security guard.

There is a restaurant half a block away that stays open til 4am, on fri and sat nights at 2am they have about 100 people outside waiting for a table. There are very few options late at night.
