    Why Is Tanning Lotion So Expensive?


    There are a couple of reasons why indoor tanning lotion is so expensive. If you've never been to a tanning salon before you may be shocked when you get there and they try to talk you into buying a bottle of lotion that's $60, $80 or even $110. It is imperative that you use a lotion on your body during a session in a bed and you can't use the stuff you use outdoors.
    Let's start with the secondary reason tanning lotions cost so much. These types of lotions have very special ingredients and their formulas take time to be developed by chemists and scientists. Some of these ingredients include hemp seed oil, tinglers and more commonly added skin bronzers. The use of such unique ingredients in the formulas is one of the reasons why the price jumps to a level that seems straight up crazy to most.
    The main reason indoor tanning bed lotions are as expensive as they are is... ready for it? PROFIT. The profit margin on lotions is extraordinarily high, much more than most consumer products. We're talking at least 100% profit, and usually it's closer to 200% or 300%. This means if a bottle costs you 60 bucks the salon most likely gets it for under $20. The sale of indoor tanning products is a big part of a salon's business model when it comes to the bottom line. I mean let's be real, everybody needs to make a living, but c'mon, should we really have to pay that much for a consumable product that we'll need to buy again in 2 months? Add that on to the price of tanning itself and you have a pretty decent monthly expense. The good news is that if you have some negotiation skills you can usually become friendly with the salon operator and they'll start giving you nice discounts on bottles of lotion. They will make it seem like you are getting a crazy good deal but always keep in mind how much profit there is, so even if you talk the price down they're still making decent money.
    Even though it may be very costly we still recommend that you stay away from cheap tanning lotion. This is something you spread over your entire body so it's a good idea to make sure you're using a very high quality product.

    Def not gay. Just don't go all the time without any real sun in your life or you will get the orange look. I think it's a great idea especially going to do it before a vacation. Have fun, they're super relaxing when your in there.

    I used to think guys that tan were the biggest clowns ever until I decided to book a spring break trip last year. I am pretty pale and I realized I was going to look like a ghost and just completely burn up so I decided to go tanning.

    What you want to do is start off at level 1 stand up and work your way up. Stand up beds are easy in my opinion, you get in and press a button to start it and just put ur arms up and hold these bars. Make sure you use the eye protection and just buy the $7 lotion packets they have there and use 1/2 of them at a time. Theres a decent amount of lotion in each so you can use 1/2 of it and still coat your whole body easily.

    I went about 5-6 times before I went on spring break this year and I had some real good color and didn't burn at all when I was there.

    There are two answers.

    Tanning to look tan = gay

    Tanning to not burn on vacation = there's utility in this so it probably isn't gay.

    its not the ghey..you wont be pale ass white and burn as easily. plus tanning addes vitamin B to your body and after you are done it actually perks you up and you feel better.

    obv it becomes the ghey if you go weekly and look like some orange girls but going every so ofter to get a base color is not ghey..

    plus usually there will be some hot chicks you can smooze up while you are there..

    yeah i live in central IL its been fucking, cloudy cold and snowy/rainy for months now..

    BUT if you lived in FL and went to a tanning bed def the ghey

    not gay, chicks prefer a tan guy over Casper. Plus you look a little buff even if you don't work out. I don't use tanning beds though, just lay out with no sun screen and get burnt--which eventually turns into a tan

    weird. Tonight i used the sunbed in the gym for the very first time. Im going to Antigua in 6 weeks and i have the palest pastiest body in the world. My Irish skin barely ever sees the sun so am trying to get a bit of colour before going

    I think most of us are talking about tanning before we go to the beach on vacation or something so our pasty whit asses don't get scorched. Can't you still get burnt the fuck up if you have a spray tan?
