Sounds easy enough. Thought it would be simple. The truth is, most of the time it's listening to people piss and moan about mundane crap that means absolutely nothing. So what the lady at the grocery store didn't say "Have a nice day". WHO CARES??? I guess I'm supposed to care. When in reality I would really like to look at a few of these people who have nothing better to do with their time than to complain about total bullshit and say, "STFU, are you kidding me? This is what you wanted to come to therapy about? The fricken lady at the grocery store?" But instead, I nod politely, with that slightly off balanced smile on my face. Which of course should tell them how bored I am with what they have to say. But instead, as I'm shaking my head in disbelief at what I am hearing, they proceed to say, "Should I have spoke to the Manager about this?" Come on lady, it's a fairwell greeting....which half of the time doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone. And most people don't really care if it's said or not. I swear, she has to be really bored in life if this is what she came to therapy to discuss.
But then as the session is over and I begin to breathe a small sigh she turns to say, "Same time next week?". I nod, closing the door behind her as I roll my eyes, thinking to myself, this is what I got my masters for? I sure hope it helps her to talk, because frankly, I think it's driving me NUTS!!
**of course for ethical reasons this entire subject and all that it contains is made up and not real in any way and relates to no real person** -

Masters? Get a Ph.D, imo...
fwiw, psychologists therapists, etc....they're really easy to fuck with and most can't determine if you're messing with them or are being sincere...but, it does help if you know what they look for during "session" -
I have a hard enough time listening to my wife, and I love her, money is probably not good enough motivation for me.

1. Quit your job (you obviously hate it)
2. Sell your house
3. Sell your Beemer
4. Sell your wife
5. Go to Las Vegas
6. Put all the money on the roulette wheel on red
7. (a) If you win party like a rock star
7. (b) If you lose, kill yourself
Seems simple enough to me

This is one of the strangest posts I've ever seen in OT. I'm not sure what the purpose is.
Brag post? Confusing rant? Are we supposed to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of being a psychologist? Are we supposed to tell psychologist stories? Should we brag post reply about how we know a psychologist? Are we supposed to inquire for pictures of said crazy bitch? Should we comfort you because of your tough day? Should we look up a psychologist in your area that you can go see? Should someone post green non-links? Should I just keep asking these stupid questions?

Purpose....nope, there is no purpose to it at all. Not a brag post, most affirmatively a rant. No youre not supposed to discuss anything, no need to even post a reply, unless you choose to. I'm just tired of lurking. It's been a year and a half and I dont even have 100 posts. So, for whatever it's worth (probably less than 2 cents), I chose to say something. Might be stupid or dumb....doesn't matter....just finally felt like actually saying something that I was thinking.

Well, I'm tempted.
As a shrink, don't you wonder why she cares about the grocery store lady? As you said, most people could care less, and it's just words to the grocery store lady, yet all of her self confidence is shattered because she doesn't hear "have a nice day". Her day was ruined for this.
She's obviously missing something rewarding in her life. Why not try to get to that, as opposed to just mootching the extra sessions out of her and her insurance company? -

LMAO!!! Insurance company?? That's too funny!! I work for the state.....this is all free. They don't pay a dime, just your hard earned tax dollars at work (if you live in MO that is). Besides, shes fake. Not allowed to talk about personal stuff from sessions :)
