    I agree with TXgal and wowswift. Tell her you want to take her bra shopping. A good bra will run $40-50. Buy her two or three. Repeat process with other small things she might need. Problem solved.

    a buddy of mine just went through the same thing. . oddly enough. . .his girlfriend was stressing out of her mind with expenses. . .my buddy makes plenty and offered to help her out. ..she refused, even said that she broke up with a guy one time BECAUSE he bought her a new dishwasher. He gave her his credit card number (put the ball in her court, so to say); she actually is trustworthy (i've known them both for ten years). It got so bad that she just became withdrawn and he thought they were broke up (they also lived in different states). a week later he flies her up here for the weekend (guess they were still talking) and everything was pretty cool. sunday, at around 5pm, i'm chillin in my room (dude's house-i rent a room) playing a few tourneys and he says that I need to get ready because they need a witness because they're gettin some marrying done at around 9pm. . .

    in less than a week they go from quasi broke-up to married. I'm still not decided on if this is a fairly tale story or if one (or both) of them are retards. whatever, she'll be moving in soon, so i have to find a new place to live.

    anyway, that's one way to handle it. . . . .

    I pretty much agree with them and some of what other people said. first off your girl is a keeper. I have helped my girlfriend a few times with different things but never anything like 3k and I never will unless we get married.

    but it definitely seems like she is pretty eh on the whole being together longterm i.e. forever or whatever. not knocking poker obviously its a great gig but unless your balling out of control like the top few percent of the poker world in general its not a very well respected thing in most peoples eyes imo especially long term.

    good for her, don't take it personal and praise her for it. Show her the respect she wants and deserves for trying to make it on her own and then help her out anyway. She might feel that if she lets you help her then she'll owe you, never a good thing in a relationship.

    you sound like you don't feel like you are holding anything over her at all and just want to help, but the female specimen is an odd creature, they are not to be understood, just appreciated.

    The people who said take her bra shopping are right. Similar situation with my gf, she's "independent", and wont take money from me under any guise including loans. Took her to victorias secret when the had some new bra out that she had mentioned wanting to try out.

    So I take her in there and tell her to try it on and I'll buy her a bra, and naturally she spends like an hour in the dressing room trying on different bras and sending me out in the store to get different styles/colors/sizes...and she's hanging "maybes" on the door and having me put the rest back.

    At the end she had 4 and was asking me which one, this and that, so i just told her no worries just get all 4. She got all sentimental over it and said it was one of the sweetest things anyones ever done for her (she actually had worn her existing bras ragged at that point and really needed bras)...yes 4 bras was a shade over $200

    I did the opposite...I paid off gf's stuff unwillingly just to make sure she was stress free and she bought other shit instead. Never loaning a girl money again.

    Sounds like she clearily stated she wants to do it on her own so prob shouldnt run your $ in her face all the time. If she needs money, she will ask.

    People who are always going on and on about how about much cash they got are annoying. Good to be proud of your accomplishments but poor taste to brag all the time (basically this whole thread is like 50 brags.)
