Steve Spurrier has told his closest friends that he will leave USC at the end of the season due to his current athletic director. The dumb ass AD that they got from TCU will not let him recruit the players he wants. He said he isn't going to let USC ruin his legacy and he will coach again. I am an alumnus of USC and this is the last news I wanted to hear even though I don't blame him.
-
hopefully there will be a spot open at Tennessee for him
-
I thought Pete Carrol was the coach at USC
-
How is that a level? Spurrier is a great coach and any program in the country would love to have him. Also if there is a spot open for him then TN fired that fat fucking waste of space
-
Clemson anybody???
He used to coach in the ACC. He has super strong southern ties. I don't see him taking over another SEC team.
Would be sick for Clemson and the ACC. -
Heard it yesterday from one of the big contributors to USC who has direct personal contacts with several of Spurriers friends. Trust me, it was the LAST thing I wanted to hear.
-
I don't think he would consider Clemson because their recruiting situation is very similar. Tommy Bowden complained several times about their standards and lost several recruits who verbally committed to them because of the guidelies. Also, I think several Carolina fans would kill him.
-
Tennessee has the largest recruiting budget in the nation and we let retards like Demetrice Morley come in...it is a win/win situation
-
Yeah if I were TN's AD and I heard this, I'd pay the $6 million buyout to Phil and kick him the fuck out of town.
Can't spell Citrus with out UT -
I call bullshit on this. Every year that Spurrier has been here he has been rumored to be leaving. He was supposed to go to Alabama and Miami and who else knows because of this same issue. If this was even just a decent rumor it would be all over the Carolina message boards and there is nothing there about it there. Spurrier has said countless times that he will stay at Carolina and become their winningest coach, which isn't really saying alot since all of Carolina's coaches have pretty much sucked. He was rumored to be leaving at the end of last year for this same reason but that didn't happen. And Carolina actually has some of the lackest admission standards in the SEC. Florida where he used to coach has some of the strickest. Every school has to follow the basic SEC standards for admission so if he went anywhere else he would have the same problem unless he leaves the SEC and I don't see that happening.

Explains how you got in. -
Where do you think hes going to go NFL or college?
-
I love Steve Spurrier and all, but
is a crock of shit. I'm sure this does not mean that the AD is having differences about whether to recruit a pash rushing DT or a run stuffing one. So South Carolina has standards. That's a good thing. I hate watching college teams field criminals. If this is true then USC moves up on my list. -
That is the bare minimum. They can be higher if the school wants them to be. I'm sure Vanderbilt's standards are a lot higher, and good for USC if theirs are too. Steve Spurrier is as great a CFB coach as there could be. He should be able to win that way.
-
since when did this ass hat coach in the PAC 10?
-
We all know that the VERY best athletes aren't always the best students, yet somehow they still go to the big name schools. Spurrier has a huge ego (rightfully so) and wants the very best recruits and to win SEC/national titles. There is a huge correlation between the 2. It might be the politcally correct thing to say you want to have a high GPA and graduate athletes but if you don't win, you will be in the unemployment line with tommy bowden. Wins get coaches contract extensions, not gpa.
-
god i hope he doesnt go to Tenn.
-
That isn't the only person she was humping, at least she got something out of it.
-
This is really odd, there has not been a word of this spoken around campus. Hope it's not true, Spurrier has sucked his first 2 seasons because he tried to run his style of ball with Athletes that just weren't suited for it.
Now that his recruits are climbing up the ranks I see USC competing for an SEC title next year, finally.
