It is snowing like a mofo in Raleigh, NC right now. It never snows this early in the year. So much for that global warming bullshit.
-
That definitely proves that the oceans aren't an average of .000000000000000002% warmer worldwide.
-
This thread can actually be useful if it's snowing in Charlotte too since I'm sure the Florida St team has never seen snow before
-
i cant believe it is snowing in december.
-
Well then, since the world is definitely cooling, and there is no individual incentive to keep it from cooling/invest in adaptive strategies to avoid economic collapse, then the government needs to step in and steer our economy in that direction, right? Right?

Reason: I have an idea: we could subsidize the fossil fuel industries -
This is to everyone on this site who claims to know the truth about Climate Change/Global Warming,
SHUT THE FUCK UP! Unless you are a scientist engaged in the research of climate change, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! You are just choosing a side and then finding sources that back you up. You are presenting your opinion as fact and look like a moron. This is not an area of science, like evolution, where 99% of real scientists agree, there is real scientific debate on this topic that doesn't revolve around politics and we are not a part of it and have nothing to contribute to it.
ps, I realize that there is debate about evolution, but it is not among real academics. Real academics publish in real peer reviewed publications where their work will be challenged before it is actually published, they don't hide in religious publications that give an intellectual pass to any article that supports their views. -
you're right, it's not 99%. I believe that it is plausible/logical to have 10% doubt about the veracity of MMGW, and another 25% doubt about its severity. But as for making a conclusion and then backing it up, one side definitely has incentive to do so, while the other side begrudgingly accepts the overwhelming scientific evidence.
You are actually arguing that warming is not occuring? Seriously? Provide any evidence, please, and not that WV fossil fule site you linked us to before. -
Edited By: yomamanodros Dec 5th, 2010 at 01:01 AMSo you don't think that there is any profit motive on the side of the cap and traders? Both sides have something to gain in this argument. It is just complete bullshit for everyone to act like they know what they are talking about, when they clearly don't.Originally Posted by userid363

Once again, you are stating your opinion that there is a 10% margin of doubt and a 25% chance that the severity is overblown. This has no basis at all in fact. You are just proving my point. Anyone can pull stats like that out of their ass, it doesn't mean they are true. Thanks for sharing your beliefs. -
Interesting read. So the US is using strongarm techniques/extortion over US aid so that the entire burden does not fall on US shoulders.

Does nothing to deny the veracity of MMGW, though. I believe that you will attack any movement toward government regulation. First by denying that warming exists, then denying that it is due to CO2 increases, then to resist the efforts because they aren't the correct mechanism. I know I missed something in there. -
Rwd do you ever remember it snowing this early here? All I know is that it was cold as hell last winter and it was prettty mild this summer. Now its snowing on the 4th. So while I might not be a scientist I do know what it feels like.
-
Doubt this thread deserves reasoned debate.
My weatherman (communications major) made a Global warming joke this morning. Global Warming must be a myth. -
Even gamma agrees (holy shit).

You can't judge GW by how you feel at any given time. It's absurd. Anyway, even if you could, PM the Russians and their historical heat wave. Oh man, hope I didn't derail this thread into wild anecdotal "evidence" -
You at least have to admit that Global Warming certainly isn't affecting the United States as far as temperatures go. I wish it would warm a few degrees here in the US and the rest of the world can take the cooling we're experiencing.
-
Wouldn't that be sweet? Water availability concerns aside, of course.
-
using the outside weather to prove/disprove GW/CC is silly, unless it's hot and you are a lib/dem stating that the hot is teh proof.

if anyone needs me I'll be lecturing others on their energy usage from 30,000 ft.

embed don't be working. tf! -
No one is saying that. Oh, you mean me. Yeah, I did say that OP's "it's cold outside" is just as stupid as saying ______. Which is just as stupid as ncj saying that lib/dems use the same logic they purport to abhor.

In before ncj misses the point again -
You kind of mean like a lot of the shit Al Gore says? Al Gore is not much different than OP when it comes to making bs claims because of single events. Also, weren't there quite a few libs claiming Katrina and other hurricanes were likely a result of MMGW?
-
I have no idea what Al Gore says, so I wouldn't know. I know what I've always said. I used to work for Greenpeace (flame away) in college in the late 80s and even then when people who were just starting to be convinced talked about the hot summers, always told them that I don't think it's possible to judge long term trends by the current weather.

As for hurricanes, it is thought that MMGW could increase the number and severity. I have not done research on this particular fact nor know the % of the theory's certainty.
