I'm taking the GMAT on Tuesday and wondering if any OT'ers have any useful tips/recent experiences taking the exam?
-
like with the LSAT and all these exams, the key is to be calm. don't start second guessing yourself after a question- once it's done, it's done. don't let a previous error snowball into a few more careless ones.
-
I'm writing it soon too, going into study mode when the books arrive. shooting for a 7XX

Slip the proctor a 20.

try and get a low rate and don't let them talk you into a longer term

edit: nvm, thought this said GMAC -
took it a few years ago, so i hope the format is the same
- for the essay portion, make a quick outline, make sure you MAKE AN ARGUMENT and support it. don't worry about which side of the argument you take, they really just want to see your support for said argument as well as sentence structure/good grammar, so try and save time for proof-reading. i wasted SOOOO much time worrying about what my argument was, and had to crank out the essays in under 10 mins. luckily im a sicko and still got a 5.5 (obv. brag)
- spend the majority of your time practicing and re-practicing the data sufficiency questions as they are very tricky and unlike anything you've ever seen before. the rest of the math/verbal you've seen before in other standardized tests, and a lot of it is either you know it or you don't. if you can master the data sufficiency section, you really have a leg up on the competition as I and everyone else in my program struggled with it.
