    i recently had a mens club championship match vs a very good golfer. he is like 9 time player of the year for our province so i knew i was in for a tough match.

    well i started off 2 under through 4 holes with a 2 up lead. i was feeling great, hitting the ball pure and making a couple putts. well he decided to turn it up a notch. he proceeds to go 9 under from then on out with a hole in 1 and 2 pitch ins from like 30 yards.

    i ended up being dormie going onto 17 knowing i need to birdie the last 2 holes. i made like a 15 foot birdie putt on 17 to keep the match alive. 18 is a short par five but very tight and out of bounds up the whole left side. i managed to get my ball about 3 feet short of the green in 2 to a front pin. left my chip hanging on the edge of the lip. it just wasnt meant to be. he just calmly proceeds to chip in for eagle.
    all in all i shot 65 and got waxed. he shot a 62, which was the new competitive course record at our course.

    anyone have any good golf match stories?

    If you 2 dudes were playing match play, his "62" is not legit and should not be recognized as a course record. That is a pretty sick match tho. I've had some good matches over the years but nothing like that.

    an rcga match play event took play at a course in new brunswick and set a new competitive course record approved by the officials. so its legit. i gave him a couple putts that were no longer then 2 feet.

    If you gave him putts then this record couldnt be further from "legit".

    sounds liek you 2 should be on some kind of pro golf tour shooting liek that? if i ever shoot a 65 ever, i wont care if someone else shoots a 62

    this is beyond funny. you say that now, but if you ever did, you would be mad. believe me.

    Nothing is worse than playing lights out, feeling so good about your game and yourself, thinking you the shit. Posting your score, and realizing you just shot 68 and are losing by 3 shots.
