  1. Probably NQTW but whatever.

Each year a group of us go away for a few days golf and play a comp. This year it is my turn to sort it all out. We are going to Celtic Manor. Each year we try and come up with a new team game to play on one of the days but im struggling to come up with anything different. It doesnt have to be anything complicated or anything.

So basically I was just wondering if anybody had any decent ideas.

Oh and it will be a mixture of 3 and 4 balls
  2. Tell us what you've already done so we can pick something new. Do u guys bet and if so how much? Handicaps or u guys all equal skill?

  3. I like it when every ball counts. So teams of 3 or 4 and you play every shot out. On another card record the scores from lowest to highest for every hole so each team has an A ball B, C, D. Compare A against A across teams, auto press when 2 down on either side. Just gotta have the teams semi even to make it work. You could theoretically play with anyone and make the cards up after as well instead of having to play with your team.

Varies from 1 or 2 all the way up to guys who wont break 100.

Cant remember them all but last year we had one where each team was given a ball at the start. Had to rotate it through the team on each hole. So player a would play 1 with the ball, b hole 2, c hole 3 etc and the team that got the furthest round the course without losing that ball would win. If it was a tie, lowest score won.

We have done scrambles, best 3 from 4 on each hole. One of the better ones was first 6 2 scores count, next 6 3 scores and then last 6 all scores count but only really works in 4 balls.

Im struggling more with the different numbers on the teams. Just makes it harder to do any of them really.

Ideally it would be a game that fits in with playing your own ball but it doesnt have to be

  5. Low team net per hole.

Shamble - Team uses the best drive then everyone plays their own from there on. Handicapped scores.
  6. we play this a lot. Works best with 4 or sometimes we play with 5 if the course isnt too busy. Either team can press before leaving the tee (doubles the bet).

  7. Sounds like my game fits your criteria pretty well although its more betting than a "game" like the one ball thing. Can do it with all skills too as long as the teams are relatively even.
  8. Yeah agree with gutbird about Wolf. Great game and hilarious to see your friends get butthurt when you go wolf after the pipe one because you know they suck.

A great game that we played all the time for our practices in college I think is just technically a variety of Scotch. It's a team game, 6 points. 2 points for low ball overall, 2 points for low team overall, 1 point for prox (closest to pin in regulation) and 1 point for birdie. If you scoop all 6 points it's an Umbrella and you get double so 12 total for the hole.

At the start of each hole (before drives are hit) the team who is losing can press and double the points for that hole. The winning team can repress if they choose to double it again so everything is 4x points.

It's a fun game and you can choose whatever dollar amount per point to play for. We were all pretty even at the time probably all between 2-6 handicap and usually the matches would be +/- 50 points or so at the end with a few that were like 150 point blowouts.
  9. Ok we have managed to get a couple more people and got to 20. So it will be 5 fourballs. That makes life a lot easier.

  10. Bingo Bango Bongo

Longest Drive - First on - First in.

I was going to suggest a skins game but with 20 it gets really complicated. lol

Wolf is awesome, playing it on Sunday. No better feeling than being the first on a Par 3 and sticking it, going alone, and tripling up.

Reason: doubling up, tripling up would be announcing you're going alone before your shot
