  6. Louie and Workaholics for current shows.
The Larry Sanders Show if you want to go back to the mid 90s. Rip Torn is pretty awesome.

LOL! I didn't think they showed SHH in the US. He's a fkn genius... Check out We Can Be Heroes. He's also about half way thru his new project called Angry Boys which isn't quite the same caliber as SHH but it's still gold

Don't like this show, or Big Bang Theory, or 2.5 Men, can't really do sitcoms tbh...

Someone mentioned Curb, I've seen all that, but thnx.

    What's Southland?

  8. Current rotation is Game of Thrones, Shameless, Archer, Top Gear, Breaking Bad, Californication (fading)... also Deadwood, Weeds, Bullshit, Spartacus still get rotation time occasionally.
  9. Just got done watching party Down on netflix...definitely give that a shot...best "unknown" comedy series ever

  11. Google these:

There is always money in the banana stand.

Well, what's the word for it, Lana? You freaked out when I said 'Quadroon!

I really gotta fix that step!

for the three comedies I recommend.
  12. For sure Rescue Me, as has been mentioned above.

    Top Gear
    Archer
    Southland

Def not Swamp People, worst show ever

Really like this show too. I will never forget a year or two ago though when they were trying to charge 99 cents an episode on demand. No way I would have ever paid that. Now that it is free they still don't have the full season available I actually checked last nite.

But anyways WTF at OP not liking Dexter. First I have ever heard of that. You obviously have to start at beginning to appreciate the show more but still I think it's a close second behind The Wire.
  23. Man, I love Dexter, but to put it up there as high art? Naaaahhh. It's so formulaic and predictable, for the most part; also, it has SO MUCH extraneous BS such as LaGuerta and Angel...and occasionally, you get a just terrible character like Quinn.

I am thinking in terms of great series that have multiple seasons to watch. The Wire is undoubtedly first. I think Dexter is second. I can't even begin to think of a third show I would want to keep continuing year after year and The Wire has been done for awhile. Although Hung, Californicatioin and Entourage(not necessarilly in that order) are enjoyable also I don't think they are on the same level as either of the two I mentioned previously.

all of this and I would add just a general complaint about the too many instances of lazy writing for a great show. I really like Dexter and will watch it until it goes off the air, but I also watch House. Dexter is much closer to House than it is to the wire. Comparing breaking bad or mad men to the wire, totally fine.
  26. Oh, I initially forgot (and I'm sure I may get flamed for this), Doctor Who. This really depends on your taste in sci-fi, and willingness to put up with some cheese here and there, but it's gotten especially good in the last two seasons, and with close to 50 years under its belt now, there's a tooooon to keep you occupied. Disclaimer: You pretty much have to not be afraid of being a nerd to enjoy it haha

two different types of comedy, Archer and MF. Archer is in a league of its own (and can be since its on FX) and MF has excellent writing.
