  1. In the 70's, it was the unavoidable, relentless march toward...gasp...global cooling

In the 80's it was acid rain and then aerosol cans and their inarguable, undebatable, supported by "the entire scientific community", destruction of the ozone layer

Now in the 90's and 21st century we have the new truth, the new indisputable facts, the omg the sky is falling revelation that..gasp...shriek...man is causing Global Warming.

So, my question is this, which "truth" will surpass the global warming myth?

  3. Global Cloudiness?
  4. Well...it snowed here in Illinois, so I'm thinking there might be some truth to that global cooling thing
  5. A meteor will be on its way to hit earth, but Bruce Willis will be there to destroy it...
  6. Thread title made me think of this instead of dumb theories:

  7. So tired of all these fuckin faggots
  8. tectonic plate / ring of fire "unstableness" maybe.

  10. Where/what/when is the tipping point?

Any reason to think the world population graph won't correlate to this one?

  14. I'm going with population or meteor......

  15. i think smoking causing cancer will definitely be the next gov't lie.
  16. LOL at global warming. It will probably be something to do with chem trails. That stuff seems to be gaining steam these days. They are sprinkling tiny aluminum particles in the air to deflect sunlight to cool the Earth, allegedly.

  17. I bet the next big lie will be that there is no "w" in environmental.
  18. we know acid rain was a legitimate problem, right? and we know that there is now a hole in the ozone layer, right?

  19. do we really know? don't let the liberal media tell you how to think and feel!

yeah, but we took steps to correct the ozone and it got smaller. then suddenly it re-emerged thus leading us to wonder how this could have happened since we supposedly fixed it. Leaves many scientists scratching their head now. Is it possible the ozone hole is just a cyclical thing that has been going on for millions or billions of years?
  21. Was acid rain cyclical too?
  22. do we know for a fact acid rain caused the ozone hole? wouldn't its re-emergence contradict the acid-rain theory?

i'm going to hedge: as listed in the OP, they aren't related. you can have acid rain and that will cause its own problems whether it depletes the ozone or not.

LOL. Who said acid rain cause the ozone hole? The OP's sentence about acid rain was poorly constructed (surprise!) but acid rain and the ozone hole are two separate topics.

    EDIT: Dammit, dpottz.

  25. honestly ive always thought acid rain was some old science fiction wives tale. never knew it was a problem. one things for certain is that i could give a fuck about either side of this debate.

    This type of apathy owns.

As all things eventually do, the Earth's human population will undergo a regression to the mean.

That being said, an environment/biosphere phenomena might not be the 'lone gunman' in that regression.

    Reason: roger that

  29. pretty sure we're already at "global climate change".

much better than "warming" because now all weather is explained by the be-all chicken-little "climate-change" canard.
