    Everyone get to a safe spot. I heard 4 were dead but not sure if its true.

    There has been a report of a possible gunman on campus. Get to a safe area and take precautions until given the all clear. Avoid the King Commons and all buildings in that vicinity.

    <H1>Shooting reported on NIU campus </H1>
    At least one person was reportedly hurt Thursday afternoon after a shooting on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, according to authorities.

    Officers responded to a call of shots fired on campus around 3 p.m., according to DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.

    A professor at the school said there was a person with a gun in Cole Hall, a large lecture hall in Watson Hall.

    Police and fire officials were on the scene.

    Edit: apparently the salukis were southern illinois not northern illinois, so my friend is safe I guess

    Hopefully they take the guy out before it gets bad.

    Its has been confirmed that there has been a shooting on campus and several people have been taken away by ambulance. All classses are cancelled on the DeKalb campus. People are urged not to come to campus. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

    On tv it shows lots of snow surrounding the campus buildings, so it must be very cold (and thus very easy to sneak a shotgun in under a trenchcoat). Sad.

    4:14 p.m.

    Campus police report that the immediate danger has passed. The gunman is no longer a threat. The DeKalb campus is closed tomorrow. Students can go to any residence hall for counseling.
