There are alot of things at play here but in short this storm is a historic once in a lifetime storm that is a serious serious danger to those in its path. From the fact that is a hurricane phasing in with a very powerful polar front/trough to this thing hitting in the middle of a full moon cycle where tides are the highest to the path that it is taking into the coast and how that effects storm surge on the coast and locations like the Long Island Sound this could be disasterous. It will also be a long duration storm that will pile up rainfall totals (and snowfall totals in places like WV and Western VA - up to several feet) as the storm really has no place to go but towards the Jersey coast. Take a look at the National Hurricane Centers projected path and look at how the storm is moving northeast then is pulled back in hard almost due west into the coast. This is due to the atmosphere being blocked up so the cane cannot continue to move east so it gets absorbed into the approaching polar trough/front and pulled to the coast. Take this FWIW but I follow weather pretty closely and I'm telling you nothing like this has been seen by professionals who know this stuff and live it day to day. If I'm anywhere near the landfall of this thing I'm out.

She says if we sue we will then have to pay the labor costs we didnt have to pay for the improvements to the house that i mentioned before IS BEING TORE THE FUCK DOWN. My actual lawyer is salvating for his cut of the difference we will win in court. -
So we just moved all the electronics out of the house and to a friends house inland (40', xbox, ps3). I have a majority of my clothes packed and trop offered to put me up for a couple of nights. Rather have my car on the 6th floor and be sleeping on the 30th floor than my current situation.
-
My mom is over reacting and im forced to go help her move shit all day. fwiw, we live far enough inland that we would need a world ending catastrophe before our house gets flooded. But i think my mom assumes the winds in this thing are going to be something out of the movie twister.

We argue about this every year when they predict "the biggest storm ever to hit NJ" and I eventually give in, do everything she needs, then make fun of her afterwards.
If you live in a shore town, this is obv a big deal, but where I am, its not. We have a pond in our backyard and its about 150 feet from the house. During our biggest storm ever, i think it grew to about 110 feet from the house.
Women gonna women. -
Ugh my mother is the exact same way
-
yeah same problem with last year but that storm didnt do shit in jersey and i'm closer to the beach this year so i dont even wanna chance it.
