Any one still do this?
A good friend of mine (female) and I have been doing this for the past couple of months now. Im not exactly sure how we decided to do it... or why, but I find it pretty cool. We dont see eachother often, pretty much just holidays, but I find myself really excited to check the mail every day. We wont communicate over the internet unless we really need to.
My grandma passed away a few years ago and when I was going through all of her stuff in her bedroom I found the letters my grandpa wrote her during WWII( he passed a couple years before I was born, so it was cool reading these). They were newly weds and he enlisted shortly after Pearl Harbor to avoid the draft.
He was deployed for nearly three years yet my grandparents managed to maintain a strong relationship through poetic, intimate, love letters. He always ended his letters with, " Oceans of kisses and mountains of love". I thought that was pretty sweet.
Would this even be possible today? Doubtful.
I guess to answer my own question, we decided to do this because technology almost makes things too easy. Where is the excitment or anticipation when you can send a IM/text/ or email in .2 seconds?
Maybe im just a little off, but I think it's cool and it helps realize how much we take relationships these days for granted.
What are Ot's thoughts....and ,lol, flame on. -
Once my dept gets all of our forms on the computer I will never physically write the english language again. Computers rule

i am a fan. used to go away for summers and the best was when i would get letters from people back home.
i tried to do this with a friend, but it hasnt quite taken yet. i think there is definitely something more personal about them and they are def a welcome change from the stuff that usually comes in the mail. -
yeah man. they take time and thought and forever reason i enjoy that.

there's something romantic about hand written letters. sometimes i'll wake up to one from pluv and it makes me smile. i put them all in a drawer.
oh and i love this.

yeah me too. I think it will be funny in 20 yaers when I look back at the letters i've recieved. I kept all the notes I got middle school through high school and going back and reading them now is hilarious. Not saying these will be hilarious, but it's amazing watching how much you grow up.

Actually the reason I don't is that after, 14 yrs of writing reports on this job, I cannot write in cursive and write all my letters in caps. There is nothing as unromantic as a love letter in block letter style.

lol I do this too...the all caps thing.

I can still write in cursive, but I have to think for minutes at a time about certain letters. -
Yeah, maybe it's because i dont spend massive amount of times writing shit all day anymore, but it's not about whether or not it's writing in upper case or not, it's about hand writing a meaniful letter. It takes time and thought hahaha. I dont tihnk most people do that anymore... Maybe it's just me.
