  1. Pretty sure this hasn't been posted but figured id ask what you all thought about this

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...ort=total#grid

I had some grips with soccer being as low as it was but definately pleased to see boxing #1
  2. Not sure I'd put gymnastics so far down, nor would I put hockey so far up. And no Ultimate Frisbee?
  3. golf is the hardest sport to play, note not the toughest as in football and boxing. those definitely require more athletic ability, but golf is the hardest game to play i think. the only people who wont agree are the ones who have never played.
  4. Tennis
    golf
    Football
  5. How in the hell is Swimming so far down there??
  6. Water polo, soccer, golf
  7. John Daly is proof that golf is not the hardest sport. There might be one or two hard skill sets but I think overall as a complete sport its not as tough as some other things. I can imagine Roy Jones Jr. becoming a world class golfer with enough work but I can't imagine John Daly being a world class boxer no matter how much time he spent in the gym.

  8. I'm going to look this guy over good and see what I think lata. Boxing is crazy hard, wrestling better be very high.
  9. this is a repost from about a month ago, if that.
  10. Yeah really. Here we go again.
  11. 5 days a week in the gym would improve Daily more towards being a boxer than 5 days a week would do for Roy Jones.

Jones would still never be able to crack 100

At least Daily would lose some weight and be able to knock someone out.

Boxing is overall harder, this is obv, but hitting a golf ball effectively is harder than any 1 single thing in boxing.
  12. In golf you don't have somebody constantly beating the shit out of you, but you do have to walk 1-300 yards at a time...oh no
  13. waterpolo ftw

I'd like to see you golf pussies do that.
  14. I honestly can't believe some of you are suggesting golf is one of the hardest sports. There are professional golfers in their 50s and 60s (and 70s) who can hit in the 70s on a consistent basis, and probably beat the snot out of 90% of those in OT who play on a regular basis. Guarantee even LeFlyingRat could knock out a 60 year old boxer.

Sure, golf take a lifetime to master, but any joe shmoe can go out there and birdie a whole once.
  15. throw a straight punch then try to hit a golf ball straight.

not arguing overall it is harder. Just saying that playing golf well is not that easy.

Same theory in baseball. hitting a baseball is infinately harder to do than anything in boxing, but you don't have to be athletic to do it.
  16. that is prob the worst argument ive heard. john dalys a fat drunk piece of shit, of course he won't do well in any other sports. take someone like tiger or other golfers who are in shape. and to say theres only one or two hard skill sets in golf just proves you know nothing about the game, just saying.
  17. never said it wsa one of the hardest overall. obv don't have ot be athletic. But to play well it requires different skills.

this argument is unwinnable unless you have played golf though.
  18. Name three golfers (hell, name two golfers) who could compete with a professional baseball, basketball, football, boxer, etc. And no, Tiger could not be able to compete with any of these guys either.
  19. are you retarded?

Name anyone that can compete with Tiger in golf.

edit - Tiger would do waaaaaaay better in another sport than that person would do in golf.

i.e Kobe in Bball, Roy Jones, whatever.

please try to say that this isn't true.
  20. Is that your retort?

Hhhhmmmm, I'm not a golf fan, but here goes: Els, Singh, Mickeslon are three that come to mind.

EDIT: So, because Tiger dominates the sport of golf proves that golf is more difficult than say football or basketball? Explain please.
  21. That is probably why Tiger dominates golf, he's one of the few that actually has some athletic ability
  22. ask any professional athlete that plays golf. ask michael jordan if he thinks its the hardest sport to play, ask the countless other athletes who start playing golf when they retire which is harder, you will get the same response im giving you. like i said before, yes boxing, football etc is more athletic and tougher on the body, but it is not harder.
  23. What about Els Singh and Mick??

    and davols -

thousands have athletic ability. Why not go make an easy living playing golf????
  24. Because it takes years of practice to get good at golf

And before you say "Oh, that makes it a hard sport," remember that it takes even more practice to get good at chess
  25. A professional senior golfer is beating every single person on these boards. I am probably in the top 1% of golfers on these boards and realize that any professional senior golfer is better than me.

Golf is also a lifetime sport, boxing if obv not. You're comparing the wrong aspects of the sport. You can't compare the longevity of an athlete in boxing to the longevity of a golfer. The demands of these sports are entirely different.

Oh yeah, and you play holes in golf, not wholes.
  26. its an easy concept for people who have played the game.

Easy to just say "all you do is walk around and swing a stick"

    ignorance
  27. i love people slamming golf who have NEVER played the game before. golfers would clean your wallet faster than someone could drown you in your pool.
  28. By that account, then bowling, darts, and fishing are harder than football, boxing, etc, since most athletes probably can't average what a professional bowler averages, or thow bullseyes at will, or do whatever the hell a professional fisherman does. It takes skill, but pretty much zero athletic ability (and notice, I said "athletic ability" not "strength").
  29. Chess is a competition.

So if it takes years to get good at it, it is easy?

Some people CAN'T play golf because they don't have the skill set. If it was easy every father with an athletic son would turn him into a pro golfer at an early age.

    You are contradicting yourself
  30. what skill set? hand-eye coordination? chess players need that too so they can grab the pieces

and fwiw, not everyone has the "skill set" to play chess

    chess >>>> golf

and golf is a competition too, so is boxing, so is football, so whats your point?

    You are contradicting yourself
