Anyone else notice this, or remember an example of them using the term for a white athlete?

insert conversation about reverse racism, GTFO's, etc. ASAP.

Yes, tonight I read this "Cavs G Delonte West was indicted on additional weapons and traffic charges stemming from his Sept. 17 arrest in Maryland. " and said to my friend who went to st joes "he was trying to live the thug life. Haven't you heard him talk? You shouldve seen this coming " he said "sigh sju fail."

uh, that was the point of this thread?

It seemed (seems) to me that thug has a negative connotation, and is more commonly used to describe black people bc it has a racial connotation as well. I thought it was an odd choice of wording by ESPN, and was asking if others thought thug was a racial term and also wondered if ESPN used it as often for white athletes as black ones.

I feel like you are trying to have an argument for some reason, but not sure why?

  6. has a white guy acted like a thug?

    ghost: lol
  7. The whites=punks, blacks=thugs thing is pretty accurate IMO.

All the white guys who fit into the punk/thug thing seem to be covered in tattoos--Shockey, Devendorf, birdman, etc.

Not sure I've ever heard birdman referred to as a punk/thug, but he kinda fits the bill...idk

  10. Quit acting thuggish?

Or they can keep stomping on guys heads with cleats, swinging helmets, knocking out players, fighting the fans, shooting up strip clubs, running dog fighting rings, ect, ect, ect...

Maybe minority athletes should try not to be a spitting image of every racial stereotype.
