  1. Just got offered a job there. Please tell me anything, specially if you live near it. I would leave Phoenix (where I live now) and most likely be separated from my fiancée for at least a year. It is a great opportunity though, I don't think I can beat it career wise as it would be my first job out of college.

    Help?
  2. I grew up somewhat near there and my mom lives about 45 minutes away right now.

Not a terrible place, but there's not a ton going on right there in town. But, there are lots of other things you can do.

I wouldn't NOT take a job there because of the town. I think you'll be fine.

  3. If you arent brown, you should be fine.

  4. have you lived in a city where you've driven in snow before?

and it seems there are some decent skanks working and tanning at the local tanning salon.

  6. Not a deal breaker, it'll just take some getting used to if you haven't driven in it before.
  7. why does it matter if he's lived in a city where he had to drive in snow? i didn't and only times i did drive in snow where with chains, and obv canada, no chains and sick snow, and stubborn me, no, i never bought snow tires, i plowed through that shit. and i made it :)

its not that bad, easier to do donuts obv in the snow :)

    Cheap cost of living
Local bars with some of the best wings
Decent Cheesesteaks (not Philly but close)
Not super far to play live poker

    Con's
Heavy snow in winter, take up skiing ;)
Not as much to do as there would be in a major city - 2 hours from Philly, 2 1/2 hours from NYC

I went to Lehigh many moons ago which is about an hour from there. Had an ex-girlfriend that lived there that loved skiing on blue mountain.

  11. I lived there once for around 3 months, but I was 21 and banging some chick that i knew from out here in Ca. and was drunk probably 90% of the time. I remember the pizza was good, and the people were nice. Probably not gonna help with your situation but were you really expecting anything else from OT?

  12. My buddy Lyle lives there. He's cool and has a cute little dog although I haven't seen him since March lasty year. His friend Julie has a nice white bikini with a cute little cameltoe

    Pics of the cameltoe
  14. I grew up about 10 minutes away in a very small coal mining village.

Total shithole. Would not recommend leaving the gf and living there. The only positive is that it's some of the best dirtbike terrain in the world (if you're into that sort of thing).

It's a very depressed area with not a whole lot to do.

IF you had a family in the area it would be a different story. There are great deals to be had on real estate, and some of the spots up in the mountain can be beautiful. So in that sense you can sort of isolate yourself. But if you're just moving there by yourself you're in for quite the shock.

  18. I'm about to move to Greensburg, PA for a year for work opportunity.

    Looks like a shithole.

    Anyone been there/from there?

  19. as long as you don't rear red you should be ok GPop. glgl
  20. If I were in Az, I wouldn;t even consider Pennsylvania unless the job were extremely lucrative.
  21. Agree with Rocket Surgeon here. The company I work for has a couple of plants in Hazelton and have been there several times on business. Very depressed region of the state. Very rough winters there usually (in fact I think they are forecasting like a foot of snow there on Friday) and very mountainous terrain which is obv good for skiing/snowboarding. There is not a whole lot to do, not a lot of quality night life in the town. As a plus, it is a very cheap cost of living; tons of great deals in real estate in that area. Depends on how great the offer is but it is not somewhere I'd love to call home for any extended period of time.

Not asking company wise, but what type of work have you been offered?

financial analyst. i dont require night life, nor do I care if it's 'happening', tho I need a good internet connection and TV, so hopefully that isn't something tough to find haha. i just havn't really had any job offers, at all, and my resume is weak. this would give me experience and money, but at the risk of maybe straining my relationship. i know this is a dilemma facing lots of people, just wanted info since OT is bursting with knowledge, 51% of it helpful!

  25. In that case, go for it. If you're not much of an active person then really anywhere is fine.

Personally I'm very jaded by the place. I spent my whole life in that area until basically 20 years old. To be honest, I thought I'd always want to live there. It's all I knew. Then I got out and realized what I was missing. Now I go back and can't wait to leave.
  26. I mean... around here 50K up you'll be in pretty decent shape... There is plenty to do... Moeghan Sun Casino ---- Poker, Table Games... Live Harness (horse) racing... Lots of nice golf courses...
  27. i would take the job there... BUT DO NOT LIVE IN HAZELTON. find somewhere outside of there to live.
  28. i am not too far away from Hazelton, and as stated above i would not live there i would look for a place in Wilkes Barre. Also as said above there are some really really nice golf courses around this area, as well as AAA baseball if that is something that would intrest you.
