  1. WTF? Do I get my money back if I bet on this game?

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat must replay thefinal 51.9 seconds of their game last month because the NBA saidthe official scorer ruled incorrectly that Shaquille O'Neal fouledout. This will be the first time since 1982 the league has sentteams back on the court for a replay.

The Hawks won 117-111 at home in overtime Dec. 19. The NBA saidFriday the replay will be held before the teams' next scheduledgame -- March 8 in Atlanta. Play will start from the time afterO'Neal's disputed sixth foul.

The Hawks also were fined $50,000, with commissioner David Sternruling the team was "grossly negligent" in failing to address themistake.

The protest is the first granted by the NBA since December 1982,when then-NBA commissioner Larry O'Brien upheld a request for areplay by the San Antonio Spurs after their 137-132 double-overtimeloss to the Los Angeles Lakers the previous month.

The Spurs and Lakers finished the game in April 1983, with SanAntonio winning 117-114.

  2. lol, that's crazy
  3. totally bizarre.
  4. Holy christ that has to be up there with the infamous 5th down as the most bizzare moment in sports
  5. This is ridiculous. What was the spread? This could potentially turn into an ugly situation if this any bearing on the point spreads, etc.
  6. The spread was Atlanta -2, so the Hawks covered.

  7. Possibly not though if the replay the last 51 secs.
  8. All i know is if i bet that game big on any sites and won.. I'm withdrawing all my cash about two min ago haha....
  9. Hawks were leading 114-111 at the time of the incident, but the game is no longer official. No one took the Heat at +2 at 47:09 point of the game, they took the Heat +2 at the end of the game.

EDIT: I think this is one of those times where the sportsbooks just might take a hit. If you bet ATL and won, you keep the money. If you bet the Heat and lost, you'll probably get your bet back. I doubt they would put the Heat money back on the game, as they then risk losing both ways (paying -110 to both Heat and Hawks picks).
