    They paid a Fortune, but I'm glad they got him signed. Ottawa down 3-2 to Toronto tonight and Heatley scored to tie it at 3 and then the game winner in OT as well.

    They were best friends, and his friends parents felt that losing his best friend was punishment enough so they did everything in their power to make sure he didn't go to jail etc...

    Thrashers are sick.They have the best player in the leauge. Ilya Kovalchuk obv. They made a good deal Trading Heatly for Hossa. It's just a matter of time before Heatly kills Daniel Alfredson, That colored Golie Jason spezza!!

    yeah, fuck heatley. If you or I had gotten in a wreck and killed someone we'd be in jail right now. Glad he is not in Atlanta anymore.

    I didn't follow the story too closely, but didnt he crash with a teammate and he died? Were they drunk? How fast?... I really don't know the circumstances.

    If you got in a car accident with a friend and they died, doubt you'd go to jail unless there were alcohol or excessive speed (even then don't think it would be manslaughter or anything).

    Not drunk... But driving insanely fast. I wont make up a number because im not sure exactly how fast he was going. Yes, Dan Synder, his teammate was in the car with him and was killed.

    Heatly was going 80 mph on a curvy road where he ran off the road and hit a brick wall. He had been drinking but was not intoxicated. It was his fault, there was not any other vehicles involved. Again, if you or I did that there is not anyway we dont spend some time in jail.

    Wasn't this years and years ago? Didn't he go through a TON afterwards as well and was also injured pretty badly?

    Who hasn't gone faster than they should on a curvy road? Crappy situation all around but it seems like he's paid the price for his actions.

    I wouldn't say a lot more. He's getting a ton considering the state of the league now. He's also happy in Ottawa and he knows they're committed to winning.

    Personally, I love Ovechkin... who was the last SUPER skilled player to run around and knock the hell out of people??? He plays with more fire than I've seen out of any superstar type hockey player in ages. I like Crosby too, and he deserves a ton of respect for carrying himself the way he does at such a young age.... but he whines sooooo much.

    Also, he was on the radio here (Detroit) yesterday to promote him being on the cover of EA NHL 2k8 or something. He was asked, "What is your favorite thing about living and playing in the US?".... "I like go to bar... drink!"... everyone was cracking up and you could kinda tell he thought better of the comment or someone nudged him and he's like "aaaahhhh... kidding......". He's pretty hilarious actually.

    lol when martin Havlat was in Ottawa someone gave him the nickname "Mach 9" and it seemed to stick for the rest of the year. After a game where he was first star the commentator asked him if he liked his new nickname and Havlat with his broken english said "well, I think it's kind of gay actually."
