  1. Does anyone know of a good way to search for jobs on the internet. I know careerbuilder/monster/etc. but all those jobs are pretty worthless. I'm looking for something with investment banking, private equity funds, mezzanine capital funds, asset management, commercial real esate (analysis not developtment), hedge fund etc. I've tried google but all I get is career builder's and recruiter's (I'm working with 2 recruiters now but the positions aren't incredible). If anyone knows a good website for job listings, or can PM some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
  2. what have you done in the past.... efinancialcareers.com is your best bet, but what have you done.

  3. what have I done, as in career wise? I just graduated a year ago with a degree in finance, and am a mortgage broker, but if anyone follows the financial news you know how that industry is going for ATM. As for applying for jobs, I usually just type in "investment banking career opportunities atlanta" into google and try to shift through the junk.

  4. Where'd you graduate from? Undergrad or graduate? I've worked in capital markets in the past. It is very tough to get your foot in the door without some great previous experience or some serious quant brilliance, but it is definitely great once you're in and I think a lot of poker skills translate nicely. I don't know if you can live without an income for awhile, but interning might be a possibility, although even then it is pretty tough to get in.

As far as where to look for jobs I'd actually suggest just trying to directly contact some firm VPs and see if there are any intern opportunities.

    Good luck.
  5. I graduated from Auburn University, undergrad. I interned with Morgan Stanley before my senior year, but being a Financial Advisor was just not the right career path.

  7. I'm PMing my contact info- we have a couple of positions we're working on in your areas of interest.

I wouldn't waste my time with job boards or internet postings.

  8. Do you own your own mortgage broker shop, or are you working under someone else.

Mortgage is getting tight, but with 10 million loans set to recast in the next year there will still be plenty of money...just a matter of having the right setup and knowing how to place these people into what loan programs are left.
  9. Ya, I would definitely not want to be a financial advisor, not my cup of tea. Definitely prefer the capital markets side of the business. Let me know if you have any questions about different roles, etc.
