Like everyone else has said, I think you need(ed) to be way more up front with her and just take a strong swing at it. You should have said "fuck yes" when her friend asked you if you were in love with her and then just stared her down like a hungry coyote. I don't really see why she would let you stay at her place if she wasn't at least a little interested in you, so maybe you still have some kind of shot regardless of the rest of the story making it seem like you don't at all.
