OT , I need some help..Son bought a used car from a Honda dealer tonight. We leave there 2 blocks later the service engine light comes on . He calls me , I tell him to call dealer, he does they are closed. He next calls the salesmen on his cell phone..he instructs us to call the sales manager in the morning. We get home 15 miles later , he turns the car off we go to start it again and it wont start...We call salesmen back , says he cant do anything now call back , I ask him if this is normal he says no but you did buy it AS Is...Really? what do I do next??
edit Indiana is the state and he paid in cash -
Most states have a lemon law, even if it was purchased "AS-IS"

Read the fine print.
Google your state, used car, consumer protection to see what options you may have. -
Do you have emission testing in your state? If you do the dealer is required to fix the car to pass emission testing up to 100k miles.

unfortunately Cash

test drive ftw?
-
call them in the morning and tell them you want a refund. If they're dicks about it tell them you're having the car towed back to their lot with the local media on standby.
-
we did test drive it 2 miles

Please. My store gets those bs threats every month. none have shown up
you can tell them you are going to local media. like they are going to give a shit. -
so it doesnt work because your local media sucks or b/c businesses dont care about bad publicity?
-
Are you talking a <$3000 car? If so, pretty much SOL and should have bought private party for something in that range. Is this a large dealer, or primarily a small used car place? if they are large and an authorized dealer you probably have a better shot at them working with you on the transaction.
