    Got woke up an hour ago by a bunch of kids outside in the street and they kept me up for the last hour. Then they started climbing a small tree out front (that could have easily broken) and that was the trigger, so I called the cops. I hear the cops telling them they're 15. I figure the cops would just chase them off, whereas if I go out there they call me a fat grumpy old man and egg my house tomorrow night.

    Definitely don't call the cops.

    Definitely DO walk outside with a gas power chainsaw, turn it on as you are walking down the porch steps, rev it full power, and then start turning around and around like you are winding up for the hammerthrow, so you are spinning around relaly fast with the chainsaw whining at full pitch and be simultaneously shrieking at the top of your lungs.

    You accomplish 3 things, guaranteed, with this method:

    1. They will leave (immediately).

    2. They will never come back.

    3. They won't get arrested for being harmless teenagers.

    3 birds with one stone.

    Cops are making way much more noise than the kids. Now the cops are calling their parents. Kids snuck out of the house they were staying at apparently.

    Well, dolphin, I guess you and I are the only ones who think that children playing out on the street unsupervised at 3am is worthy of a call to the police. The parents probably would have sued you if their kid fell off the tree and got hurt on your property but, you know, don't be such a grouch.

    But I personally would've gone out and chased the punks off and I woulda had my gun with me instead of calling the police.

    Having said that, when you're behaving in an idiotic way, bad things often happen, like when you're climbing trees in a stranger's yard at 3 a.m. and suddenly out of nowhere the cops show up.
