Holliday present for my pops

    So a year ago my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer and was given 8 months to live. Its been 12 months and he is in fantastic health with no sign of the cancer returning. He has been the most influential person in my life always supporting me with whatever I did especially poker.

    Now that I'm older and out of the house I realize how lucky I was to have someone who pushed me enough academically to get into a good school but was never intrusive and always gave me tons of freedom to make my own mistakes.

    The past few months i have been putting up my most consistent poker results and would like to use some of that money to buy him something nice this year to thank him for everything.

    I am looking for something in the $550-$1200 price range. I was thinking about getting a nice HD tv for the house but I really know nothing about them. I want to get something bigger than 32" and isn't going to give him a lot of trouble repairs and maintaining.

    He is also really into music especially classic rock, stuff like Bob Dylan, rolling stones, greatful dead etc...

    I was hoping someone could help me out with a good model of TV to get in that price range, and also any other ideas that some of you might have would be greatfully appreciated.

    LG 42" Plasma TV.

    It's only 720P but it has a great picture and it comes with a 2 year in home Warranty. For $799.99 you cant beat it. At that price you could buy him a nice Surround Sound to go with it and still be under 1200$
