ya but even if he does it could be one hell of a downfall. Look out for him to be king of the homeless crackheads in 5 years

  12. There's a documentary that was on Showtime On Demand about giving a homeless man 100k and he just blows it and ends up homeless again. Very interesting documentary.

  13. The guy has been a crackhead pandhandling for years, it really develops your con man skills. I hope he makes it too, but there needed to be a buffer between "living on the streets" and "making shitloads of money", like being in prison for a couple of years.

  14. If he makes a bunch of money (given) and is just left to his own devices, he will undoubtedly fail, probably with drugs/alcohol. If he surrounds himself with professionals that coach him through the rough spots, he could be ok. Admittedly and unfortunately, the former seems more likely.

    its simple really

if he is a true alchy and does not continue the sober path he will blow the money in biblical porportions and most likely be dead within a few years.

if he continues to seek help and stay sober, he can be a great success story

but, its not like he will inspire other homeless peeps ffs.

unless homeless peeps have cable tv they have nothing to watch, only hope is that he gives back to the community himself.

  16. I'm rooting for this guy...

He should host a reality show that finds bums that have extraorinary talents. Would beat American Idol every week.

this is not far from the truth. i work in the social sector, specifically with homeless men/women and it is so hard to break a downward spiral in a person's life. The really messed up part is that most people think they can fix things by throwing money at it. but they didn't solve the problem that led him to drug addiction in the first place. fixes are temporary. Solving is forever. I hope this man was able to solve the root issue he had!

wow, very short-sighted view and way off, imo
  21. They keep reporting here in Ohio that he has 9 friggin kids. Guess who is gonna be payin some back child support
  22. Yeah, I also heard 9 kids and about three times as many "second chances" over the years. It sounds to me like his ex-wife is the one who should be getting all of the fanfare and idolization.

That seems to be the thing with addicts though, sometimes they need 10 second chances before they finally kick the habit. You hear of people trying to quit smoking 5, 6, 7, etc. times before they can finally do it. Same basic principle here, sure, we don't know if he won't fall back off the wagon, but I sure as hell hope that he doesn't. For, himself, his kids, his kid's mom, his mom, and society itself. But that is just me.

If he is telling the truth, and is 2 years sober, then he is way ahead of the game and may stand a chance.

I will let you guys know how he is doing since I just hired him to talk shit to my wife while I am banging her. Frankly I am tired of doing it myself

  25. No one is hoping that this guy fails, just that he truly cleans up his life. People are falling in love with him and treating him like their hero without knowing his story. He was arrested on May 14th for theft, said that he turned to stealing in order to finance his drug habit, but he's been clean for two years. Alrighty then, cool. If it's true that he has nine kids who he has never done anything for and who have been raised by a woman who overcame more difficulties than any of us could imagine yet never gave up, she's the person I would choose to look up to. But that is just me.
  26. IDK, I guess that some people will in fact, "look up to him." I'm sure though that many others will simply find inspiration in the story. Not really assigning messiah status to the guy or anything. Although, I really have nothing to say about people looking up to him. I am not in that camp and really have nothing to say about supporting that point of view. Seems a bit silly to me to think that way though.

In the end, it has the potential to be an inspirational story. It also has the potential to be another story of an addict who can't kick his addiction. Or, or could go a way that none of us expect. Only time can tell which it turns out to be.

I'm just rooting for him to not go back to what he was in the past.
  27. I heard he is a cousin of President Obama.
