  2. I'd rather face Boston than New York in the playoffs

But Knicks would scare me if the Bulls weren't healthy

  3. It doesn't matter because the only team in the East that has any real chance of beating the Heat in the playoffs are the Bulls and that's only when they're healthy.
  4. knicks are 10 or 11 deep when healthy, have two stars, two very good deep shooters, an above average point guard, best defensive player in the league, and the perfect mix of youth/experience...and dare i say it, they play pretty good defense (a d'antoni team locking up....)....not a bad formula for a deep playoff run in a shortened season, where teams will inevitably have a few injuries heading into the playoffs

also, shumpert would've been huge tonight...missed him bigtime...baron played terribly and d'antoni had no other options at PG...w a healthy shumpert, the knicks are even more dangerous...maybe im just being an unrealistically optimistic knicks fan, but tonight wasnt a bad thing at all...showed a few weaknesses, and things to work on, and i think the knicks really make a run this year

Shoulda been more clear, they're not dangerous to either a healthy Chicago or Miami, at that's all I consider important for the Eastern conf. part of the bracket. Could they emerge as the 3rd best, sure, there's just a huge drop off between 2 and 3 imo
  6. lol you better hope Amare's knees hold up since D'Antoni will be riding him hard for the rest of the regular season

Im a knick fan so definite bias, but I really believe they have a chance to beat the heat or the bulls. You saw basically their worst game all around today. They looked horrible. They have a half a season to get it together and if they can start clicking with how deep they are, they can beat anybody.

  8. Knicks' fans are a bit loony.

That was one of the Heats' least efficient offensive nights this season. And they still won by 14. The Knicks are only dangerous to anyone not named Miami or Chicago. It took Lebron, Wade, and Bosh a full season plus playoffs to get in a groove with each other. 11 deep is great if they compliment each other. But no, Tyson and Amare are the same offensively. Jr and Melo are the same offensively. Bill Walker, Landry Fields and Jared Jefferies have the same game(edge in shooting and defense to Landry). Steve Novak (as a shooter) and Iman (as a slasher/defender) are the only truly unique pieces. Baron is washed up. Lin is an above average point guard, but as seen tonight, when he is focused on he has deficiencies. Those kinds of deficiencies can only be overcome with experience, more experience than is left in this season, one could argue. However Lin's performance tonight is not entirely on him. Multiple times tonight his teammates stranded him by not rolling over to a spot he could get them ball. Cole/Chalmers would rush him w/ a help defender on the way and instead of going to the edge of the key to get a pass and dump it back off to him, they stood in their respective spots doing nothing. Don't even get me started on Carmelo. Ball stopped with him far too many times. Got it with 18, did his Melo thing and threw up some junk shots. Jr thought he was Melo.

On the bright side, they are better defensively. So hey, maybe a broken offensive and now above average defense could scare some. Smells more like a 5 seed to me.
  9. I think its a bit crazy to say that what you saw today is the Knicks finished product. Theres a ton of room for improvement with this team. The squad you saw today has been together all of 3 games. I agree that there may not be enough time to get it all together thats why I said if they can start clicking, they can beat the heat or the bulls. They have as much talent on their team as anyone in the league.

Edit--didnt read your whole post niceguy. Amare and Tyson are the same offensively? and Melo and JR are the same offensivly? and fields walker and jeffries are the same? Do you even watch basketball?

  11. Im trying to figure out which one of those comparisons is the most outrageous. I cant decide.

  12. In this offense Tyson and Amare have to roll to the basket. Tyson is 5 feet and in. Amare can go 15 effectively. As a result they clog the lane. This pushes Melo"s game to 15+ unless he calls for a clear-out(which isn't a function of the offense). Furthermore, in these situations he has not shown a willingness to dish it back out.

Amare/Tyson is not a good combo.

Melo/Jr. are not a good combo.

Both sets were on the court at the same time tonight.
    Disaster.
  13. Saying they don't mesh well together is not the same as saying their the same offensively.

  14. Tyson and Amare are being asked to play the same way this season. That's the reason Amare's FG% has taken a nose-dive. Style of play over a career may be different, but right now they're doing the same thing. Tyson is excelling in that role while Amare is suffering. Deal with it.

Amare has a longer effective range, but in this offense the range their supposed to be in is essentially the same.
  15. Um no their range is not supposed to be the same in this offense. Tyson plays right at the rim and shoots layups and dunks all day. Thats why hes crushing the rest of the league in field goal percentage. Doubt he averages 1 jumpshot per game. Lifetime average of 8.5 ppg while Stoud is at 21.7. Stoudemire is known as one of the most athletic big men in the league and one of the best shooters. They have never asked him to play the same roll as Tyson, and their styles of play couldn't be more different.

  16. They are playing the same role this year. Tyson is excelling. Amare is suffering.
  17. C'mon Boston!

  20. with tebow the other teams makes amazing mistakes (going out, fumbling) to give him a a second chance

with lin he makes a terrible TO and 3 celtics cant pick it up to give him a second chance

lets see who plays the broncos kicker and wins the game for the knicks
  21. wow, great last two minutes here, big shots by both teams

god this is a dumb comparison
  23. pierce hits way to many big shots
  24. I blame that on the coach. For the life of me I can't comprehend how owners pay these dipshits that much $ and they can't figure out proper strategy which is to foul < 10 secs on the floor .

  25. Happy this game is going to OT. That no call when KG got hacked on the forearm with a couple minutes left was huge. But really problem has been KG couldn't make an open shot most the game and Rondo can't make a lay up (great game from Rondo though obviously). Celtics should have already won this one
