    welp

In fairness to the knicks they would have had to pay billups a whole 14 mil.... I mean, that's alot of scratch.

    huh, amare has 80 left?

    oops.
  2. Looks like Phil to New York is pretty much a done deal

Reason: it's a joke, not at all a done deal
  3. The real problem with the knicks is not melo not amare its dolan. I don't blame d antoni one bit

How many coaches or gms have quit because of him? He overrode walsh on the negotiations for the melo trade iirc.

Fred wilpon has to be thrilled dolan owns a team in the same city as him.
  4. knicks need to trade lin now! his stock will never be higher, you wont face backlash from your fans, Phil wont coach Lin at the point whatsoever.

  5. ^ in the article i linked (the one that says that phil and the knicks haven't yet been in contact), jackson says that he's a lin fan, for w/e thats worth

seems like they gave up way too much for Melo

I like D'Antoni, and not just because he is from my home county. He has always seemed like a genuinely nice guy who has given his life to the game. Hell Coach K has him on the staff for USA basketball I hate that it didn't work out well for him in New York but I feel kind of relieved for him getting out of there

Im sure he said that but its not like he can say "I dont like Lin". Lin cant drive left or guard anyone. Phil likes big pg's who play good D and hit the 3. Just my take

  8. Good points all around. Would've been pretty funny had he said that he hates Lin. I think Lin's a better on ball defender than he gets credit for though

how do you figure he can't guard anyone? from what i've seen of him his defense is at least league average.

passing lanes he does well. on ball, I dont see it

  11. yeah but guarding the best pg's in the nba these days one on one is nearly impossible... so i wouldn't really slight lin for his inability to check say deron williams or rajon rondo
  12. tru tru.

  13. it is very difficult for the best guards to guard the best guards

i really think melo should get benched and see what takes place

it sure seems he doesnt fit the system

  14. ive become a bigger melo fan than amare fan over the past 5 games...amare was just l o fucking l in that bulls game...and i was a big amare fan before that

but what i came to post was that i couldnt disagree more with everyone that hates on lins defense...its not even close to as bad as everyone says

and jackson likes oversized PGs who play good D and can knock down the 3?...IMAN SHUMPERT

he wasn't really a 3pt shooter in college until his last year at GT...he takes some kinda bad 3s right now, and from what ive seen (and i watch almost every knick game), hes taken a ton of end of the shotclock 3s, due to the lack of movement on offense...same as like a toney douglas last year

hes definitely not a great shooter, but he can knock down the open 3
  17. 'Jeremy Lin's playing time is likely to be reduced under Mike Woodson.
"It will be a different style and a different system," Lin said. Lin also said that D'Antoni's system was "perfect" for him, but Woodson's approach is much different. "So it's like going back to what I was doing before and stuff like that," said Lin.'

Stoudamire also said yesterday that the offense is going to run through him and Melo. I think this change is for the best, Lin was shooting way to much, and he hasn't been able to cure his turnover problems. The offense should be tailored for Melo anyways. I also think this recent Knicks stretch proves that the Lin hype was largely due to the fact that he was dominating and the Knicks were winning not so much that he was Asian. He and the Knicks have come back down to earth and the hype has basically disappeared.

and don't forget: they didn't have to. the picked up chauncey's option before the lockout, then amnestied him afterward.

anyone who knows anything knew that the knicks were gonna be nasty after the coaching change. one of the oldest oddities in sports history. doubt it lasts more than 2 weeks.

  21. knicks looking good again tonight...not hard to look good against a team that cant hit any shot, though...im liking the rotation that woodson is using...melo came into the 4th showing a ton of energy

yes. That is one of the worst gm moves possible. Still difficult to understand what they were thinking

Well Donnie Walsh picked up Chauncey's option than Walsh was fired and the new GM amnestied Chauncey to clear space to get Chandler.

Once they got rid of Chauncey I think they were just waiving the white flag on this season. Still expecting to be competitive and make the playoffs but not yet ready to win a championship. Especially considering Dantonis system which is very point guard oriented. They would than go after Nash or another point guard next year and go all out for a championship. Lin came along and Dantoni was fired so those plans went out the window.

  24. The knicks will be better without D'antoni as a coach. That's not to say he isn't a good coach, but he runs a pick n roll offense that is dependant on a good pg. Woodson will run the offense through Melo and Amare, like it should've been all year.

I forgot about Donnie leaving. Of course, that was a horrible move too imo.
