why? how's he a cancer? The nuggets were a playoff team every year with him and he's been on the knicks for like 3 weeks. He also won a national title in college AND an olympic gold medal... Another absurd fucking statement.
Since the 'Melo trade (as of January 27th), the Knicks were 21-25 in regular season games, and Denver was 31-12.
Sure there can be injuries and this and that...but that's a VERY big discrepancy. -
What does deferring to a PG even mean? Lin will still have the ball in his hands the vast majority of the time. It's not like Melo isn't going to take all of the open shots Lin gets him. He doesn't have to defer at all, just not dribble for 18 sec a possession. If that's what you mean, then yes, that is going to change with Lin.

so what? That's because they got rid of melo the cancer or because they added like 3 good players to an already deep team? The nugs have a really talented roster and multiple pieces, while the knicks have no guards whatsoever. Not to mention it takes time for teams to come together.

lol yah...it took Denver all of 0 games to figure it out when they got Wilson Chandler and Gallinari.

some blame certainly lies with Knicks management...there was zero reason to get Anthony and then panic and go after Amar'e after they lost out on LeBron. Amar'e/Carmelo is just not a good combo to have IMO. They are scoring forwards who don't pass the ball very well.
also, Carmelo is shooting a BLAZING 39.9% from the floor tonight...that is god awful no matter how you try to slice it. -
To use a poker term, stop being so results oriented!
-
Giving the ball back after getting it. I.E. 16 secs on the clock, Lin passes it off to melo in the wing, there's a strong close-out and Melo should give it back to lin. But he won't, he'll pump fake, then throw it up. It has been written, it has been foretold.
-
Pretty absurd to read so much into the first 25 games of a bullshit strike shortened season... not saying the knicks are going to win a title, but they are obviously better than a 9-15 team even without Jeremy lin going this nuts.

pretty much this.

When has he ever deferred to a pg?
Cuz melo gon melo, dribble for 10 secs around the 3 pt line, pick up his dribble with 10secs left on the clock, throw up a long 2 around 6 secs, then inexplicably be the last one back on D. -
I honestly can't see this happening in a predominant pick and roll offense where the PG HAS to have the ball in his hands the majority of the time to make the offense work. I think Lin will hit Amare on the pop or the roll more than he'll hit Melo on the wing. I honestly think people will be really surprised how improved this offense will look when everyone is back (no, I am not a Knicks fan). We'll find out in a week.

Reason: seemingly sick fetish for the phrase "I honestly" -
Edited By: JRoth15 Feb 11th, 2012 at 04:49 AMlol so what else do we have to go off of? when he got there last year and they played .500 ball for the remainder of the season before being SWEPT in the first round of the playoffs by the Celtics?Originally Posted by AMARTIN1181

how long do they need to mesh exactly? it seems as though DWade/LeBron/Bosh figured it out pretty quickly, no? -
Lol no they didnt, it wasnt towards the end of the regular season last year that the Heat started playing well and they had the benefit of a full training camp. Knicks had half a season with melo last year, lockout shortened offseason this year, than they get rid of Billups they key piece of Dantonis offense right before the season starts. Seems reasonable to give them some time to judge how good they can be.

Sooo the Heat went 58-24 last year but needed until the end of the year to start winning?

You 'Melo nuthuggers have some interesting ways of twisting things...
I'd say 1/2 a regular season + shortened training camp + 25 regular season games is a pretty damn good barometer. The Knicks were the absolute definition of mediocre with 'Melo...until Lin came along, I guess. -
They started out 9-8 and at one point lost 5 in a row and 6 of 7 in March.

i love this story.
-
this is obviously all theoretical but would orlando consider melo if another player was thrown in? a landry fields type maybe. or do you know that orlando just wouldnt want melo no matter what the deal? its not like they're gonna get full value for howard. who else are they gonna take? Bynum and somebody? Pau and somebody?
-
and ended 58-24, which is really, really good.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are under .500 with 'Melo in the regular season, and got swept out of the playoffs by the aging Celtics last year.
When does 'Melo stop getting a pass for the Knicks "needing time to put things together"?? Apparently when Jeremy Lin wins 7 or 8 in a row... -
i don't see how that deal makes sense for either team, ed. The knicks would then have to turn around and trade tyson chandler somewhere since he plays the same position as howard. Also I'm not sure orlando would want to build their team around melo.
he's not getting a pass, people have been shitting on him all season? The point i think is that it's too early to call the trade a failure.Originally Posted by JRoth15

should have specified...from the nuthuggers in OT.

he's getting less shit than he probably should be getting for his epic fail of a season right now.
do we all know how bad 39.9% shooting from the floor is? and it's gotten better recently before his injury... -
Knick fans are fucking retards if they are hitching their hopes to a guy that has had a good week and a half. Let's see what happens when the wear and tear of the season starts to set in where Rin is a quarter step slower to the hole, and defenses start to take him seriously. Beating the Nets and Lakers at home is impressive if your calendar is still on 2002.

This. Melos been getting killed all season. Better question would be when does somebody give Melo a break?
Edited By: dominant00 Feb 11th, 2012 at 05:27 AM -
Carmelo to NO for Gordon and their 1st round pick(prob top 3).
Draft Harrison Barnes
Build around Lin Gordon Barnes and Amare -
Edited By: JRoth15 Feb 11th, 2012 at 05:30 AMlooooool give him a break for what? gunning his way to under 40% shooting while the Knicks wallow in mediocrity?Originally Posted by dominant00

seems as though he deserves more shit than he's getting for his morbid season plus with the Knicks so far.
and since you stated earlier you needed horses like 'Melo to win in the playoffs, how do you explain the senior citizen Celtics sweeping him out of the playoffs?? -
Jroth you are wrong. Skip bayless says melo is a better scorer, player, and clutch gene than Lebron James.
People just hate on a guy who came into the season 15-20lbs overweight, and tried to kill his previous team with his crying.
