hotels in downtown vegas

    have a friend who is heading out to vegas and wants to stay downtown, anyone reccommend anything nice downtown?

    The Gold spike and The Western are the class of downtown Las vegas. Id go with The Western fwiw

    Golden Nugget is the best downtown. The rest are all similar (Binions, 4 Queens, Fremont, Fitgeralds,...etc)

    Nugget is the best, 4 Queens and Binions are ok and have had some improvements in last few years, everything else is end of the world.

    My mom and grandpa were just there and stayed at the nugget and said it was nice(although my Mom wanted to be at the strip most of the time)

    Ive always enjoyed the drink service at the plaza, and its usually not to crowded if you are there to gamble

    Downtown is so much fun, staying down there would probably be disgusting though

    FWIW the Western no longer rents rooms.

    I have stayed at Binions, Fitzgeralds, Vegas Club, Plaza, Lady Luck, El Cortez, and found all decent, but obv i am not too particular.

    I think the Gold Spike pays you to stay there, but you have to bring your own weapon to kill the rats and roaches.
