  1. Bill mandates ending war by 2008.

    Bush throws hissy fit.<A target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17750825/">

  3. If Bush vetoes the bill, the war will end even sooner, as the bill is what provides the funding for the troops. Neat, huh?

  4. that stubborn dumbass will still veto it.
  5. and then the dummycrats fall into our hands because ultimately you pot smoking hippies will look like shit for not funding our war, thus our troops

    neat, huh?
    <span>looooooooooooooooooool so ez</span>
  6. I think the elections of November 2006 pretty much illustrate what the American people want and today the Democrats moved closer to that goal. If Bush vetoes the bill, people are going to blame him not the Democrats. What the Democrats did today was vote to continue funding the troops with a timetable for ending the war, which is the responsible thing to do. If Bush decides to get stubborn and veto the bill to spite the Democrats, he will be the one hurting the troops, and that will clear to the 66% of Americans who want the war to end. Elections have consequences.

    Neat, huh -- infinity.

  7. Do you people understand how the goverment works? Once Congress issues a declaration for war the President can wage war as long as he wants. The only thing Congress can do is cut the funds for the war, but that would be political sooicide for them cause then you have thousands of troops fighting a war with shitty equipment/poor pay etc. There is your lesson learned for the day.
  8. What the Dems did was despicable as usual. Buying votes. More pork.

  9. Sorry, but you're wrong. Congress has the power to declare war and to sign treaties, ending wars. As you say, it also has the power of the purse, which it has used today to begin ending the war. If the House had voted to simply cut off funds then yes, that would be political suicide, as you say, but it didn't. Instead, Congress authorized funds with a mandate that the war must end by a deadline of 2008. If Bush signs the bill to accept the money, he has to end the war. If Bush doesn't like it, he can veto the bill, but then he pretty much is ending the war himself.

    Neat, huh?

  10. End the war one day start a new one the next. Opps..Iran, Syria, and North Korea got some war for us.

But seriously, this bill is not ending any war. It is political posturing by both sides. I hope your panties are not wet by this politicking.
  11. I love the part where peanut farmers get 75 million. Another good use for taxpayers money, but then again, liberals don't hardly pay any taxes, so what do they care?

Edit: Subsidy for spinach farmers, that's nice. They try to kill us, and then they need some money, and the dems are all to willing to give it to them.

  12. You are simply restating what I pointed out......I really well.......I guess I don't want to start a mass debate on here but I really don't agree with this bill at all.
  13. Here's a link to the text of the bill, if you don't want to just take Artiecat's word for it:

  14. What are the experts saying about the Senate. Is it going to easily pass there or are there still more additions to come? Is there a chance it will stall?
  15. Sorry they didn't include the leather boa subsidy. Maybe next time!
  16. "What the Democrats did today was vote to continue funding the troops with a timetable for ending the war, which is the responsible thing to do."

Ok underdog, I have to call you out on this one. A timetable for ending the war? Is this some type of new military strategy? Do you or liberal friends in Congress know how dangerous this is to our troops? It's meaningless but still.

  17. Actually, there's a good chance it doesn't even pass the Senate and Bush will not get a chance to veto.

  18. No, it's not a new mililtary strategy. The time for military strategy was 4 years ago when the war started, but unfortunately the Commander In Chief was a total fucking idiot and Donald Rumsfeld couldn't find his ass with both hands and they pretty much botched the whole thing.

Make no mistake, this war was winnable four years ago, if there had been actual adults in charge. The level of incompetence and arrogance and mismanagement that it took for us to get ourselves in this situation will go down in the history books as a low point of US Foreign Policy.

  19. The libs are powerless, this and passing non-binding resolutions is about all they can accomplish. At least they have the liberal biased media to pass on their propaganda though. And millions to soak up the kool aid. That's a good thing...for them.

  20. while were assuming things, im going to assume you didnt highlight my post.....you even copy and posted my white font
  21. Powerless? No. If the Senate doesn't pass this, we're in the same boat as if the president vetoes it. No funding. The president is the one who needs money here to continue the war. The House has made it clear what it will take to get the money. Without the House's approval, no money. No money, no war.

    Neat, huh?

  22. i hope one day they split the nation in half, and gun-toting, patriot-act passing, war-supporting conservatives can live on one side of the country, and us pot heads on the other. we'll see who implodes first.
  23.
  24. my bad, but when people use the highlight trick, they make a sure there is a larger space so people know to highlight.

    see what i mean?
  25. What, no dumbass autoplay from Artie hijacking this thread?
  26. It already is. The other half is called Canada. Make sure you take a jacket, I hear it's cold up there :)
