Since the year's over how about some predictions for the upcoming years....
1) Now that Luke Donald has a firm grasp on the #1 rating how long will he retain it?
2) Tiger is currently ranked #55 in the world, where will he be at the end of next season?
3) Will Tiger help or hurt the US Team at the President's Cup?
4) Who is most likely the next person to be ranked #1?
-I'm betting that Luke will retain the #1 ranking until at least 2014 or later. Dude is so solid I really don't see anyone overtaking him anytime soon.
-I think Tiger's ranking will probably be somewhere around #30 in the world next year. I think he will probably have a few good runs next year and maybe a top 5 in the Masters. I don't think we will see a victory next year though.
-I think Tiger is going to hurt our chances in the Presidents Cup. He's just too inconsistent right now and the Aussies are gonna be playing their asses off.
-I think someone like Webb Simpson or Matt Kuchar has a chance to be #1. -
4) Dustin Johnson baby...CCU CCU CCU!!!
GO CHANTS -
tiger is done
-
Lol 2014
-
2014? I will take the under. How solid was Kaymer when he was world number one? Of course Luke currently looks great, he is the best player in the world.
More importantly, how about the POY? Just when we thought Luke wrapped it up last week at Disney the Tour decides to hold onto those ballots for a bit. If Keegan wins this week in a solid field will it matter? -
U saying u wanna bet I would under
Something to be said if he wins order of merit and PGA $, has anyone done that? I could see Faldo or someOne but not sure
And def not a Donald hater, loved him before the wrist -
would loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to take Luke donald losing the #1 ranking for at least a week before 2014. i know i cant bet on FTP or stars now, but how can i get this action????
-
Well I live 1:15 from Peoria. I'm sure we could work something out.

Donald is trash. I fear for the PGA tour and the ranking system. It's so flawed it's a joke.
Here is a legitimate question: if someone had to shoot a round of golf for your life, who would it be??
I hate tiger more than the next guy, but 99% of ppl would pick him.
Johnson, mcilroy, and fowler won't do shit in 2012
Next season is gonna be all about the has beens coming back to life: Singh, stricker, els, Mickelson, tiger, etc. -
Easy will take this for $100-500. i dont know how we can figure it out, like an escrow or something, as who the hell know where either of us will be in 2 years

in b4 zeedustin calls this a "predictions thread"

i'm not gonna argue about the ranking system, don't know enough about that. But, if you think a bunch of guys over 40 are gonna rule the tour next year you need to seriously re-evaluate things. There are way too many great golfers now in the 25-30 range who are about to peak.

the has beens has already made a wave, back in 2005
Goosen, Singh, furyk, els, perry, montgomery, jminez, hell even Rocco mediate were solid that year.
The PGA tour goes in trends. The past couple years it's been the "young guys" but it's time for the older generation to come back to life. -
Ignorance and contradiction getting ridic here
-
I think Luke is starting to peak. He is at the age where he could absolutely go on a ridic run. I'd be willing to bet that he's the one player post-Tiger who will grab the reins and run with them for awhile. I'm willing to bet on it, so no reason to try and talk me out of it. I guess since your pretty sure that I will lose though, you should give me good odds.

lol @ vijay singh's name showing up in this thread
-
And LOL @ Dustin Johnson. He is waaaaaaaaaay to inconsistent to be a #1 right now or anytime soon.

Until midway thru the 2013 season.
2) Tiger is currently ranked #55 in the world, where will he be at the end of next season?
Somewhere in the 20-30 range.
3) Will Tiger help or hurt the US Team at the President's Cup?
If you count intangibles, I say he helps, but not a whole lot.
4) Who is most likely the next person to be ranked #1?
Lee Westwood IMO. -
1) Sometime in 2013
2) Mid to high 20's... Ill say 26th
3) Help
4) Rory... kids a stud -
Could be a long time. Your bet doesn't look too insane to me at the moment. Donald really is dominating professional golf right now. Okay, not Tiger style domination but if you look at the consistency - 14 top tens in 19 events on the PGA Tour and #1 in scoring average (he won two times and the $ list while playing fewer events than anyone else in the top ten) - and consider that he played probably 8 or 10 Euro Tour events and won a couple of those as well- really he is the best player in the world. If he just won a major in there somewhere hell, that would have been a Tiger-like year & nobody would be comparing him to Lee Westwood or Martin Kaymer.
1) Now that Luke Donald has a firm grasp on the #1 rating how long will he retain it?
A big 'if' I know but I don't think anybody who's been paying attention would be surprised if Donald wins four events worldwide plus a major next year and your bet will be looking pretty good. Then again... see #4
Hard to say. Can't wait to find out. Might help him to feel as though he's playing for something a little bigger than himself.3) Will Tiger help or hurt the US Team at the President's Cup?
There are a handful to a bunch of young guys who are capable of going on a tear and winning a bunch over the next couple years. If I had to pick one : Rory McIlroy.4) Who is most likely the next person to be ranked #1?

after reading this thread I again realize why OT golf threads are very, very bad. My fucking word why is anyone taking smoke rock serious? he is the laughing stock of this board nowadays, correct? If not, he should be.
