When Johan is hurt, he's not even in the top 5 pitchers in the game, let alone the top 2. He has been battling a knee injury all season long and he has suffered because of it. Don't get me wrong, he is still a dominant pitcher but nowhere near what he normally is
FWIW, 5 that are better this season are Lincecum, Halladay, Haren, Greinke, and Cain (you can throw Broxton in there too if you want to talk all pitchers and not just starters)

Therefore, why the fuck should the way a Pittsburgh Pirate performs really alter which team gets homefield advantage. let's say Freddy Sanchez botches a ground ball in the 9th and the AL wins the game. Mr. Sanchez just fucking cost the NL team the homefield advantage in the WS! This was all caused by the fact that this is an exhibition game that Bud Selig decided was necessary to make a meaningful determination regarding the WS. IF this game was as important as Bud Selig tries to make it, then Sanchez would be riding the pine the whole game and my man Chase Utley would be getting 5 at-bats. The whole reason that Selig decided to make the AS game the determining factor of the WS is because of ratings. No one watches the game. He thought that if it "meant something" then people would really want to watch. Imagine if the play of a fucking LA Clipper determined whether or not the Lakers would have played 4 games in Orlando or 4 games in LA. It just doesn't make sense. So, my point is that no matter whether or not the WS homefield advantage is determined in this game, it is still a MEANINGLESS game because no one gives a FUCK about it. homefield advantage is meaningful, you're misunderstanding my previous post. However, it becomes meaningless because it is determined by a meaningless single game.

My original post was not about homefield advantage being meaningless - which I do NOT think it is - it was about the fact that the OP suggested that Pujols play all 9 innings bc the game is so meaningful.

Bottom line, Bud Selig is fucking up!
He tried to save the AS game by coming up with this ridiculous rule and everyone hates so. But, instead of saying he was wrong and coming up with something else, he keeps it.

Predictions:
Pujols 0-1 with K(backwards)
Howard 1-1 3 run HR
Utley 2-2 HR 2B 2R

Pujols should get 2 abs, 4 innings, play the guy he is playing in his own stadium and top vote guy.

Gonz - should play 2 innings

Fielder should play 2 innings

Howard should play 1 inning.
