  1. Having a convo with my brother about this right now. We both drink quite a bit more than people should. I'm at 15-20 beers a day {awful i know} and my brother is at 4-5 vodka drinks per day. I was telling him that he is considered to be a severe alcoholic and he didnt thiink it was that bad. I told him I thought between 6-8 drinks per week is considered to be a alcoholic. So what does OT think about this? Maybe mods could put up a poll like 6-8, 8-10, etc.... Just curious.
  2. 20 beers a day is fucking ridiculous...

  3. like... everyday? yea thats pretty bad. cut it down to 4 days a week or so... not so bad.
  4. If you can remember the number of beers you have all week you're not an alcoholic.

  5. Lol at having 6-8 drinks per week being an alcoholic. That's one glass of wine with dinner every night.

Moderate chuckle at having 68 drinks per week being an alcoholic. Mostly because I was thinking about a funny joke at the same time. 68 drinks per week might be alcoholism if you're not on vacation. Or if it's not summertime.

if you have to ask than you probably are one

  9. I know an alcoholic who hasn't had a drink in over 5 years. It isn't the quantity, it's the mind-set.
  10. I'm a functioning alcoholic, average about 6-8 beers a day. This goes up astronomically on the weekends.
  11. are you that guy who waits for liquor stores to open at 6:00 am?

are you that guy who leaves after last call?

    - you're an alcoholic
  12. why do u need 15-20 beers a day?

  13. do you really need to ask?

  15. drink up life is short esp yours at that rate
  16. 15-20 beers a day? do you get home from work and just crush beers for 8 hours? Jeez.

Thats also ~2,000 calories a day in beer alone, assuming your drinking light beer...

  17. Thats badass, I want to know someone who drinks that much.

That's to the point that its not even funny or social any more, my rule is that if it is Social or Fun and not interfering with my career then it is all good.

    lol unless it 15x7

  19. I worry about my drinking and I top out at 4-5 "drinks"/day. 3 would be Avg; every so often I venture into the 6-7 zone and I feel awful the next day.. I'm more worried about the habitualness of it rather than the quantity tho. Been drying out the past few weeks and it has been a nice change of pace. I think you need to assess how strong the compulsion is and probably go to a few meetings.
  20. I am an alcoholic, but at least i function (go to work, pay bills, do stuff around the house, etc.)

I bothers my wifes family a great deal, and they have talked to me about it. I am not abusive (verbally or emotionally or physically)

I have cut back, I still have 8-12 beers a night on average, but I know that is still to much and need to cut back even more.

I can't imagine that many beers and still being able to be coherent whatsoever

  22. How fkn fat are you OP?
  23. i only drink on days ending in Y, and mostly drink wine so i think i'm safe :)
  24. Agree with whoever said it's also about the mindset. If you can't function or go to bed without drinking then you are def. an alcoholic. If you can't drink casually, and have to have 590093490 drinks once you start, then you are an alcoholic. Drinking 5 drinks a day= an alcoholic imo, drinking 20 beers a day is just insane- get some help man and I say that as someone who has been there. When I was in college I pretty much got piss ass drunk like 5 nights a week. It's so unhealthy for you and your mindset. I still drink way too much, but I've cut it down to a casual drink a couple times a week, and once a weekend getting buzzed/drunk. Still way too much but when I get drunk it's with friends and while doing stuff so we're not getting drunk just to get drunk.
  25. The answer is "just one more".

  26. I dont have to drink, i want to drink!
  27. I would agree its more mindset. My ex and her former roomate used to kill a 30 pack a night..a bottle every weekend and still go out drinking..but you'd never of known it.
