More money than there is in the world. Seriously, there is no amount. Without family and friends and loved ones what is the point of life?
-
Only read page 1, so forgive me if this was asked/answered already, but... would your family and friends know that you essentially 'sold' them for a life of money, or do they think you just went missing? It doesn't matter to me as I have kids and my answer is no amount, but I'd imagine my question would pertain to a number of people in the high teens or early 20's

lol

I might sacrifice a family member or 2 if it meant killing this fucking turd:

Couldn't do it.
Zero. -
id probably drop as low as 100 million. give me 250 im signing the dotted right now no questions asked. love OTs moral limit, yeah, you arent giving up a life time of travelling, ANYTHING, just so you can chat up your mother and father, and a handful of siblings and cousins.

lol get off your high horses...
not everybody has the picture perfect family life...or view of family. i don't think that's too hard to comprehend. -
i mean fuck man. how shitty of a person do you have to be? its hard to go off about this and not come off as like sappy or whatever. but if you can actually throw a number on something like this and you dont come from a completely fucked family then you are a bad person. theres no other way to put it. you're a materialistic person, shallow person.

soooo how do you know what kind of family he or anybody came from? you're passing judgment on a situation that you know nothing about...
and FWK wasn't even raised in America for part of his life...different places in the world have much different views of family.
it's a bit ethnocentric to think that our way is 100% correct, isn't it?
FUCK YAH...AMERICA -
i specified if you came from a fucked up family. my last post wasnt aimed at him specifically.

Interesting ... if I could be de-neuralized like in Men in Black then I would be willing to do this for about $1 million. Otherwise the guilt would just eat me alive.

*you can't send money to them. you will literally have 0 contact with them for the rest of your life. -

that's fine, but i'm just saying you'd already passed judgment in your first post where you call him materialistic and imply that he's not a solid person.Originally Posted by XXEDPXX

you really have a poor understanding of world history, world humanity, positive influences, and so much that you are so selfish you wouldnt trade yourself in for money and a possible cause to help affect change around the world. its a hypothetical question, you could say you want 100 billion dollars and solve most of humanities basic needs with that money. but no, you want to chat with your mom/dad/wife/cousins for a couple decades instead. how selfish. lol, seriously. think outside the box.
turn shit upside down on your head. HOW MUCH MONEY "NO AMOUNT" LOL -
People saying that they would have to spend holidays, birthdays etc with no one, there is no stipulation that you can't have a wife and kids and spend birthdays etc perfectly happy with your new family. My family is dam close and I love that, me and my little bro were best men at my big bros wedding, they are gonna be best men at mine in a year and my little sister is gonna be a bridesmaid for my fiance. My mum and dad would do anything for me and this would be an absolute kick in the face for them and I wouldn't do it. But most of all my fiance is amazing and I can't wait to have kids with her. They are gonna be awesome and no amount of money is my answer!
At the same time I can totally see a lot of people choosing money and I do not judge them at all like some people in here are doing. -
The money wouldn't be nearly as fun without the people I've been close to my whole life. I would be lost without my best friend or father and no amount of money could ever come close to filling that void.

That being said, if I was offered 20M and my dad found out I turned that down he would be really upset I gave up an opportunity for a financially stress free life for them. -
damn it i wanna read all four pages so far but short on time so.... probably only a mill for me. i'd buy my mom a house and deposit a large sum of money into her bank account then disappear. never been close to my family and as a broke joke i barely seem them anyways so not really a loss to me. now if i had my own kids it may be a different story.

I think that this question really centers around how close you are with your family. While most people have friends they are close with, most ppl's friends are largely replaceable to them. A lot of people become closer with their college friends than their high school friends, but then once they're out of college, it becomes your work friends etc etc etc. So you can easily make new friends in this situation. You aren't giving up "friends"---you're giving up the friends you have right now, which most people do their entire lives for various circumstances anyway. I have a few friends that it'd be really really really hard to say goodbye to though for sure.

If I had kids, the answer would be no amount easily. And if I was super close with my family like some people (eg: Shrubbery or JRoth or Bfactor), I would definitely also say no number. However, with regards to my family, even though I get along with them etc, I'm not super duper close with them. All of our cousin/grandparents/extended relatives are basically in India so I honestly barely know anything about them. So that leaves my mom/dad/brother/uncle as the only family that really matters to me in any sort of long-term way. While my mom and dad were really good parents, it's not like we are super close. A lot of my viewpoints in life (i.e. not being religious, not necessarily wanting to have an Indian wife to name a couple examples) directly contrast with theirs; this was a huge source of conflict growing up and even though we're generally past those teenage arguments, it's not like I call them up to chat about my innermost thoughts and stuff these days. We just aren't close; we probably haven't had a deep conversation in 5-6 years at least.* I think it's pretty absurd that people are calling anyone that puts a number on it insane---not everyone has an awesome family that they're super close to lol.
What's actually pretty funny is my parents would tell me to do it for like 20 mill I'm pretty sure. They say that the only goal in parents' lives should be to make sure that their kids' lives are better than theirs; if I passed up 20 mill to talk to them every couple weeks and see them twice a year, they'd be super pissed off at me lol.
*these 5-6 years have coincided with us getting along the best which I think reflects the situation pretty well
